The Tools in Life You Shouldn’t Live Without

What’s in Your Toolbox?

flagged

  • I Turn Every Experience into an Opportunity

I know that everything in life happens for some subliminal reason and we can’t always have the foresight to venture ahead to understand it or the gratitude for the wisdom gained from the experience but I have learned to recognize when opportunity arises.

Opportunities are actually abundant for everyone but I think many of us don’t see them because they haven’t appeared as grandiose as built them up in our minds.  Even the smallest of opportunity is still an opportunity and when you take advantage of the small ones what follows suit is the big ones too because opportunity knows no boundaries and once you open that door you start to realize, recognize and become aware of how many there are around you.  It’s not a matter of you changing, it’s just a matter of adjusting your vision, similar to wearing 3D glasses where the objects pop out at you, you will be able to see your opportunities in a heightened state of awareness that makes them stand out before you.

  • I Am Worth Loving

Knowing your worth and learning not to de-value yourself based on an opinion that isn’t your own is an inner dialogue you need to develop.  Everyone has an opinion but if they haven’t walked in your shoes for any length of time then there is absolutely no foundation for that opinion to stand on.  I’ve found that people with strong opinions usually aren’t very happy, I believe that is because they are so busy looking into someone else’s life that they aren’t living their own and by doing so they are depriving themselves of finding happiness and enjoying their life the way they were meant to.  We are all worth loving, we are all worth finding happiness and we are all worth enjoying our lives, no matter what!

  • I Forgive Myself

Forgiveness is a major part of your own evolvement, without it you are literally held within a trap of your own making that keeps you in a state of sadness, hurt, discontent, anger, and so many more.  Forgiveness is essential for moving past an experience that has caused negative disruption, disruption that has been awful that it has halted you in your tracks and kept you unable to look ahead.  On one of my previous posts (Evolving Means Change) I put in a quote from Oprah Winfrey about forgiveness that I believe are words to live by as well as words to inspire you to forgive so you can enjoy your best life.

  • I Am in the Process of Positive Change

I’ve always lived within the positive mindset, outlook and attitude and I believe that maintaining and feeding those states of mind have made what has become a process not feel like one.  It has become effortless so much so that I don’t have to work very hard at staying positive.  Of course everyone has an off day, I do too, like you got up on the wrong side of the bed and everything bugs you but I don’t think that has as much to do with my positive outlook as it does with just being burnt out.  My positivity never waivers, I have high hopes and aspirations for all areas of my life and I know that when the time is right all things fall into place.  The Divine knows all, I’ve had my moment of doubting it when something didn’t happen when I expected but I found that when it happened later when I didn’t, it was better timing.  The Universe just knows and part of positivity is having faith in that but I am always trying to create a better way and a better process for positive change.  That’s the whole point of positivity, it inspires you continually improve, not because you need it but because you love it.

  • I Open New Doors to Life

I am continually looking for new doors to open and as much as I get scared at first, that’s my personal indication that I’m opening the right one.  I think you have to scare yourself sometimes, really challenge yourself, push yourself forward even if you’re terrified because pushing past that fear enhances your own personal courage, builds self-confidence and sometimes it opens up an opportunity, one you might not have otherwise discovered.  The more new doors you open the more your personal power grows because with each step into new territory you blaze trails for yourself and for others.  Imagine how much inspiration one person can provide to another just by leading the way and vice versa, you may follow another’s path because they’ve inspired you to do so.  Inspiration comes from a place of purity, a place of universal love and cannot be touched or tainted by negativity.  Open as many new doors as you can find and I can assure you, your path will be found!

  • The Past is Over

There is a reason why it is called the past, and that is because you can’t go back and change it regardless of whether or not you think you will find some sort relief from the negativity that has transpired forth as a result of the experience.  Chances are even if you were able to go back and hit the delete button to undo what was done, sure it may have changed where you are now but you would also lose the greater gifts that came with it.  Don’t disparage the gifts, what you learn from lessons can help you in more experiences to come than you realize.  I’ve learned how to adapt and handle situations that in my teen years wouldn’t have even entered my mind.  I’ve learned how to trust (especially in the universe) that all things happen when they are meant to and there’s no point in me trying to rush the universe if it decides it’s going to move at a glacial pace, at least that’s how I view it when I get impatient, trust me my patience is still a work in progress.  Without these lessons that are all from my past, I may not be as mindfully developed, and the mindful development is a work in progress as well and that is because if I don’t keep challenging myself, what am I doing then?

Keep the past where it belongs, allow yourself the presence and peace of mind to enjoy the present and even though your future is not yet written, look forward to living it, I know I do!

It’s a New Year, and……

Opportunity Awaits

opportunity, new yearsI always look forward to the beginning of a New Year because it always feels like an endless amount of opportunities await and they do.  I believe the New Year is the change sometimes needed to wipe the slate clean and there is never a bad time nor is it ever too late to start a new and more positive way of living.  It’s not just the bountiful opportunities but the energy as well that is in the air and swirls all around and offers up change and the hope of new life.

The best time of the year to rid yourself of bad habits, a way of thinking or behaviour that is working against you rather than for you, or just changing/enhancing things for the better is at the beginning of the year when the universe is responding to all the positive energy of everyone’s grandest wishes and dreams.  At the beginning of the year is when all we have the highest hopes and plans for how we want to see the year progress and the energy associated can either flourish or fall to the wayside, it’s completely up to you!

New Year’s Resolutions made with the best intentions aren’t always carried through but whether or not they are successful depends on your own determination and will, and of course the extra energy that is in the air is of great assistance and inspiration.  I think the key to success is envisioning your end goal and seeing that in your mind’s eye, it helps maintain motivation during times of self-doubt, insecurity or impatience.

If you can see it, you can achieve it!

It’s not just motivating yourself but also supporting the lives and dreams of those around you, in doing that you are not only helping to enhance their life but yours as well and that builds good karma.  Keep in mind that the good karma is built or increased only if the intention is pure and not for personal gain.

There are many ways to increase your chances of being successful in achieving resolutions you have made:

–         If you plan to rid yourself of a bad habit doing so with a friend who also has that same goal can be motivational and you can support each other in times of considerations not to follow through.

–         If you plan to make a positive lifestyle change you can chart it on a vision board which can help you to achieve goals in smaller steps so you gain motivation to reach the milestones.

–         If you plan to wipe the slate clean and start anew, I think it may be a good idea to practice an “Act of Random Kindness” for each day of the New Year, although I think that’s a good plan for everyone to practice daily.

Don’t sell yourself short, you can do anything you want, there is no expiration date on dreams or goals.

There is no age limit that should deter you from changing anything you want to your liking.

I think the best thing we can do for ourselves is to be honest with who we really are, where we want to go, how we want to get there and what we will do along the way.  I think that everyone deep down knows the difference between the right and wrong thing to do and if you live your life according to that standard, knowing that doing the right thing is the only honorable way through life than you’ll achieve great success in every aspect of your life.

The most important state of being to embrace is that of gratitude, having uninhibited appreciation for all the blessings in your life will keep the door of opportunity revolving and create a richness of spirit beyond any amount of wealth one could ever achieve.

I have great aspirations for this New Year, I’ve been looking forward to it the whole month of December, not that I was wishing away the time but rather that it’s been a challenging year and my passion for closure to those challenges and positive change runs deep.

I strongly feel that 2014 is going to be filled with so many positive changes in every aspect of my life and I am looking forward to it.  I can feel that energy swirling and it has gained more momentum this year than I felt of it last year which can only lead to positive life changes that I know are going to enhance my life is more ways than I can possibly imagine.

Allow yourself the freedom to believe and the universe will respond to that belief.  Be mindful of your thoughts and generous with your heart and dreams and success will be just around the corner.

Opportunity awaits!

Christmas Magic

Lives in the Spirit of the Season

Well this Christmas season really kept me busy, right from the beginning of December and every time I felt like I was finally catching up I would fall behind again.  This unfortunately kept me from my writing but honestly when I’m so busy it’s hard to relax my mind and let the creative side flow and I really want to put out something that people can connect with.  Even though it’s through social media and not personal (face to face) connection, for me it needs to feel genuine and I hope it does for you.  I welcome any and all comments, I find sometimes that even the smallest thing said can inspire another thought in me that can bring greater enlightenment and awareness that I can hopefully share with all of you.

I did find that even though this season usually has everyone rushing around that there were many people (strangers) that didn’t seem as stressed this year and seemed to really be living in the spirit of the season.

What does Christmas mean to you?  Are you feeling the true spirit of the season?

The best gifts one can receive are not available in stores, you can’t buy a close connective bond with someone, you can’t buy a family to share the season with and you can’t buy love.

If you had asked me at this time last year what I thought next Christmas was going to be like I wouldn’t have answered with how it has actually been, which is better than I had expected.  The changes I had experienced this year, some more challenging than others, opened up new paths and took me in directions that have enriched my life in ways I didn’t realize were there.

Even though I’ve embraced this holiday season every year with joy I found that this year felt positively different, like something changed although I don’t think it was just the season or those around me, it was me as well.

a change of feeling, a change of destiny

Although, I wasn’t pointedly changing the way I look at things for any particular reason, I didn’t have a plan to do so.  I think certain challenges this year changed me and as a result that also changed the way I look at things.  Things that carried a certain level of significance were diminished and other aspects that weren’t as significant became more important.  All those levels changed for me and those changes affected my outlook and perspective, obviously a greater clarity was in the cards for me or the universe wouldn’t have created the opening that brought me to this place.

Because of this change of feeling Christmas came in this year feeling warmer than ever and it feels like this is the beginning of a new chapter, one that is on the upswing and is going to bring more depth to my life.

It is my belief that life changing events, in whatever form they come through in, expose and cleanse the soul and how we transcend through them can elevate our awareness in all aspects of our lives and can be especially heightened by Christmas Magic.  This is what I experienced as my change of feeling and that awareness, although not expected, has brought more feelings of positive energy and a greater sense of faith in life and that things will work out as they are meant to.

Christmas is the holiday that reaches the soul, it is meant to bring people together whether they are family or not, to join with each other to honor the season and celebrate the love we have for those in our lives and share compassionately with those that may be struggling.

Even though there are challenges throughout the years that sometimes feel too difficult to get past there is one thing that never changes – the feeling of magic at Christmas.  It can transport you back to cherished memories and traditions that were the beginning of the many years to come for creating and building upon that Christmas Magic.

Christmas is also the reminder that a new year is just around the corner and I think that the magic swirling around from the Christmas season enhances my excitement for the opportunities I feel are on the horizon.  I definitely have a good feeling about 2014, there are indications all around for each of us that can help lead to the path of greater happiness, you just have to be open and aware.  The universe leads us down certain paths to help and teach us how to find greater awareness for the path we are destined to be on.

Embrace your mistakes as much as your victories because both have lessons within.

Merry Christmas to all, I wish everyone a happy, healthy and positive holiday season.  I hope you all get what you have wished for and more.

happy holidays

Oops, I Did it Again!

Changing your Patterns

Do you find that no matter how much you think a situation is different this time you end up with the same outcome?  A pattern that repeats itself continually is a sign that you aren’t dealing with something and it’s going to keep coming back, usually it hits harder each time.  This is the Universe’s way of reminding you that in order to have a different outcome you need to change your patterns.

Definition of Insanity:  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

No one gets through life without some pain but the pain doesn’t need to continually occur because you haven’t recognized the variety of consistencies that you keep repeating.  I think when we repeat the same pattern the awareness we need to develop is learning to recognize that there is an underlying issue that needs to be addressed.  The pattern exists because there is at least one area within you that is lacking and somewhere in the repetition of the cycle that area is being fed by the pattern, figuring out those areas can only be discovered through honest self-reflection.  My personal opinion is that the patterns we play and re-play in our lives are created from something that began and/or was learned in our formative years, those are the years that truly are the most important time of our lives.  Those years create and form the basis of who we are and will become and what we see and learn in that time is what we will continue to seek out whether we realize it or not.

The only way for us to progress is by changing the patterns that we imprison ourselves with.

stop chasing the wrong things

So if you know something isn’t working why would you keep allowing it to occur?  I think most of us go into all things with a positive mindset and outlook that things are different this time and that’s not a bad thing but sometimes what we see in others is a reflection of our own prospects and it’s that false sense of security that the ego uses to trick us into repeating the same patterns.  The ego definitely gets something out of it and in turn makes us think we are in control but that may be the problem because instead of trying to guide an outcome we must allow things to be as they are, change and grow as they are meant to.  In trying to control any situation you are likely to find that it gets more and more out of control because the natural reaction is to resist when feeling pinned down and disappointment will always follow.  Sometimes realizations of being wrong can hurt and I know that when I have made those kinds of realizations it has left me feeling conflicted in being able to trust my own instincts.  When you feel your own instincts have betrayed you, where do you go from there?  Self-Reflection, is my only answer, taking a real hard look at where my missteps keep taking me.

My last life challenge, as difficult as it was, turned out to be of more significance than I had realized at first and broke me wide open but it is because of that challenge that I have found my way back to a path I started on years ago before I got so far off course.  Finding myself again seems profoundly familiar except that I now carry much more wisdom, experience and gratitude.  I may have fallen down at times but I will ALWAYS get back up and when I do my determination to move forward is that much stronger.

Whether or not it has been said or thought of this way I believe that the proverbial baggage that we all carry (no one is free of it) consists of many things including life experiences and it is the culmination of all that baggage that creates who we are today.  I don’t know that I view baggage as a bad thing, even though some refer to it that way, I think it’s just a matter of whether or not each of our collective baggage (experiences and situations) fits or compliments those involved in our lives.  Comfort with others is not found within trying to make their life (baggage) fit but rather fitting into each other’s lives comfortably and without prejudice.

You can’t change or erase someone’s past and if who they are or have become no longer feels comfortable then maybe it’s time to get honest.  Parting ways in any kind of relationship is difficult because it wouldn’t be ending unless there was something that was causing it to end but staying to avoid hurting someone would eventually hurt them more.

Quote:  You can choose courage or you can choose comfort, you cannot have both  — Brene Brown

Changing your patterns so you can embrace the people that fit or compliment your life is not an easy task.  It takes time to develop the awareness to recognize how the pattern begins and then more time to learn how to divert it but once you’ve found that rhythm you will find that what lies ahead can be positively life changing!

If You Don’t Have Anything Positive to Say

Maybe Don’t Say Anything At All!

Some things are better left unsaid, if all you have to offer someone is your fear and doubt than why does it need to be voiced?  Projecting your negativity onto someone else is usually unwanted and never fair to them.  Everyone has their own issues and challenges that they have to deal with throughout their lives and no one needs the addition of negativity when they are trying to maintain a positive frame of mind.  Depending on their current circumstance your negativity could be what breaks them in that moment.no negativity sign

The phrase “misery loves company” could be referenced when it comes to negativity but my opinion is that a person can feel very alone in their thoughts and may try desperately to rid themselves of those feelings but that projection usually creates more guilt and shame and may be the start of an unwanted cycle.

What we give our energy to is what manifests in our lives so the state of being you are focusing on most is what you can expect to see show up in your life.  Our minds are so much more powerful than I think we realize when it comes to having the ability within to manifest what we most desire and we can create significant change, the big question is what kind of change do you want to see occur?  Are your intentions in alignment with that desire, is your focus so determined that there can be no other outcome?  I’m sure most everyone would easily answer “of course I want positive things to occur” but if you’re putting all your energy into preparing for the worst how can you possibly expect the positive to manifest amid all that negativity?

Negativity is heavy, it’s draining and can feel like walking around with a piano tied to you, depending on how much you are letting it control your outlook will determine how much it holds you back.  Now imagine if someone else comes along and ties their piano to you too, after that happens you may not be going anywhere and it can get harder and harder to get yourself free.

If you are already expecting the worst in any situation then you will likely get what you have already embraced.

state of your life, mind

You can induce miracles or tragedy, it’s a no-brainer for me as to which side of this I live on daily but we have our moments of vulnerability when we question circumstance simply because our immune system of will gets low.  It’s in these moments that a negative thinker has the window of opportunity to spread their virus, it’s the equivalent of walking up to someone and sneezing on them, there are times when we just don’t have the inner strength to fight it off.

Our thoughts manifest to create change, not all change is negative and change occurs based on our dominant thoughts and feelings, whether we realize it or not.  Be very aware of your daily thoughts, feelings and actions because you may not realize what you are manifesting if you are careless.

It’s ok for us to be aware of the downsides of any situation but it doesn’t mean we need to focus on it so intently that we manifest the outcome we don’t actually want.

Not everything works out as we sometimes hope or plan for but not everything is meant to, change exists to propel us into a different direction and sometimes the challenge in going in another direction has manifested to help us grow and learn.

We don’t come out on the other side of challenges without being provided the gift of wisdom, insight or growth.  The point is though that even if you feel the direction went the opposite of where you were hoping at least you didn’t encourage that direction to be worse than by thinking negatively.

For those that struggle with overcoming negative thoughts it will be a big challenge to make the change to the positive side, it will be hard work, but well worth it and I can assure you there is no better choice!

The Moment of Clarity!

The Ultimate “Aha”

The moment of clarity happens at a different point and time for everyone.  It’s the ultimate “aha” and chances are that the signs have been all around you but they didn’t come together until that poignant moment.

The moment of clarity is always a positive thing but depending on where you are in your life or what you were hoping to change because of that realization, it’s possible that things have progressed ahead too much to go back to where you were hoping or desiring, and maybe the reason for that is, you are not meant to.  The positive aspect is that you’ve reached that point and better to have had that moment later than never.  Growth periods occur not only because they are meant to carry us forward but because somewhere in our future these specific lessons are necessary.

aha moment

I’ve had more than one moment of clarity, thankfully not one of them have been at a point that causes me serious regret but I believe that even if there is serious regret involved there is nothing we cannot change through honesty, humility and perseverance.

Even if two people have the same turn of events occur in their life they won’t experience it the same, their reaction and response will be different because just like our physical make-up is unique, our emotional make-up is as well.  Everything that has occurred in our lives from the time we can remember (upbringing, environment, personality traits) influences how we react and respond to all of the moments (good and bad) that we experience and some of those moments can change us forever.

I believe it’s best to focus on where you go from here and how you go about doing that with the integrity of what you have recently learned.  In reflecting on different times in my life it’s amazing how much my life has grown and changed and in no way that I had ever planned or expected but all of it, so far, has turned out much better than I could have envisioned.

I know I’ve referenced this quote before but it’s definitely worth repeating:

A change of feeling is a change of destiny – Neville Goddard

When you experience a moment of clarity, within that lies the opportunity to change your future going forward.  The most monumental moments of clarity are sometimes associated with some form of “Rock Bottom” and from the bottom there is only one way to go – Up!  Rock Bottom is the essence of when you feel completely defeated whether that is physically, emotionally, mentally or all three.  When there is nothing left, there is hope and when there is hope it helps you to develop faith.  Faith can take you in any direction you choose.  The more you believe, the more things change, the more things change, the more you believe, the more this cycle will continue to evolve..

This is probably one of the best cycles to fall into and one of my favorites!  Cycles have the possibility to develop into a snowball effect and for me I’ll welcome this one every time.

Change your feeling and you WILL change your destiny!

two great days

Trusting in the Divine

Having Faith in What is Meant To Be

What a tough one this really is, especially for me because I am a planner, I like to know what’s coming down the road.  Even though I know that what is meant to be, will be, no matter what, it’s still difficult at times to trust in that faith.  I like change, I like the variety and I only like routine in specific areas of my life.  Unfortunately having such distinct and particular ideas can make acceptance and trust hard to manage and something I still work at to this day.  I have found that Wayne Dyers’ quote of “change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” has been significantly helpful when I remember to remind myself.  Please click on the link I’ve just attached to view his you tube video, he is an irreplacable source of wisdom.  When I’m in a state of being that is blocking my positive energy I find that sometimes I can’t summon the thoughts to carry me out of it.

My two biggest detractors have been trust and faith that what is meant to be, will be, no matter what.  My resistance to this, for whatever reason, will not change anything except to prevent me from finding resolution and peace sooner rather than later.  In resisting I cause myself to stay in that state for longer and there is absolutely no benefit.  I need to continually remind myself to let go, trust, have faith and stop trying to steer the course that is all part of the divine plan, a plan that I don’t know the outcome of.  The moment I remind myself of this quote is the moment that everything shifts into the perspective it should have been in all along.  I don’t think I could really explain it further, it’s something that you need to embrace to experience and something you can’t experience unless you embrace it.

When I do embrace it and accept that “everything happens for a reason” I find that things don’t seem to have as much power over me anymore.  It’s not that it’s no longer important it’s just that I’m reducing the impact it has on my life by changing the way I’m looking at it and in doing that what I’m looking at changes.  It’s amazing how one little alteration of perception can change so many things, like mood, disposition, attitude and outlook.  This could be the difference that determines what direction your life goes in.

As much as I inherently know all of this it really is a “work in progress” to apply it to my life, especially when I allow my emotions to overrule my mind.  I think it depends on where we are at physically, emotionally and mentally as to if certain circumstances are given more power than they should be at certain times in our lives.  We’re not expected to be strong and resilient every single day, sometimes things can get to you and my reminder phrase when they do is such a powerful tool to have with me.

I don’t believe that there is any one person that has all the answers we can only hope to learn from one another or through shared experiences.

I have to allow myself to let go and trust in the higher power that I have faith to, and know that regardless of whether or not I like or dislike a situation that it is there to teach me something and in time that reason will be revealed as long as I have faith.  Allowing that faith doesn’t mean I’m giving in or giving up it means I’m letting go of what was to allow what is.

Sometimes when you’re looking for answers, letting go is the only way to find it.
