Let’s Talk

The Value of Connecting

 Even the hard conversations matter!

  • They are not easy to approach
  • They are not easy to have
  • They are not easy to get through

They all have one thing in common, they are very important to finding resolution.  I always try to put myself in another’s shoes when trying to understand where someone is coming from and how they are affected when in conflict.  Being open and committed to resolution is a necessity to finding a positive outcome.

However, not all conflict can be resolved, not because it’s impossible but because change only occurs when there is productive commitment to that goal.  You don’t always know what another person is experiencing in their life.  Not all reactive behaviour can be understood on a surface level and if someone is willing to share please always let compassion be part of the essence of that conversation.

I have had experiences on both sides, with those who are open and those who are defensive.  It’s obvious as to which side is most compatible with resolution.  I don’t think understanding defensiveness is really that difficult but if the person you are in conflict with will not let it go then resolution can be challenging if not impossible.

It’s difficult to take a hard look at your contribution to any experience and no one is innocent whether you believe you are or not.  It takes two to tango so being conscious and owning your part is a requirement in finding peace.  If not able to within a conflict then at least with yourself and from there you will grow.  Personal growth is the staple your evolution with the most important aspect being open to taking responsibility for your decisions and choices.  A stone thrown cannot be retrieved or undone, understanding how powerful or damaging the words you choose can be the doing or undoing in your relationships and minimizing how they affect someone else is a short sighted and foolish miscalculation.

Even though we can connect with anyone and everyone at any time all over the world, which is a great feature of the technological advancements, I feel it disconnects us more in many ways.  I see it used in both positive and negative pursuits and while I see many beautiful positives the negatives still lurk in the background.  I don’t believe that one chooses to hurt another simply for the sport of it.  Striking out usually comes from a place of hurt and pain, similar to an injured animal protecting its wound because they’ve lost trust that the help is sincere.

Trust is very precious and when exploited it becomes near impossible to re-establish that very delicate balance.  If we all understood this as deeply as it should resonate within I think we would all be less likely to challenge that risk.

During this global pause we have an opportunity to explore the things that elude us including the ability to connect through real conversation.  Before this my life was going so fast, every task and experience was the equivalent of being late to work and trying to rush as fast as I could to get there on time.  A constant race in testing the boundaries of how much I could really get done in a day, leaving me with no time for personal nourishment of soul.

How much have you taken for granted as the world has progressed to become so crazy busy and are you embracing these now for the gifts they are?

There are so many things I feel blessed with and am thankful for.

  • Clean air to breathe through healthy lungs
  • Strength and the ability to actively move as I desire and need
  • Solitude to recharge, fortify and nurture my mind, body and spirit
  • An environment that provides me with beautiful and breathtaking scenery
  • Blessed connections with those who inspire, motivate and nourish my soul to move in the direction of my dreams.

It’s these basic foundations that at times are taken for granted, overlooked as the blessings they are when forgetting that life’s offerings are not part of the mindset encumbrances you imprison yourself with.  Your mind is more powerful than you realize, it can either inspire or paralyze you and the difference between which side you reside in is entirely your choice.  It takes one thought, one decision, one shift of mindset to step into your power, to embrace and engage in all things that improve your world.  It is right there proof positive in whatever shifts that for you whether it is a book, movie, seminar, infomercial, whatever elevates you to feel inspired, to believe.  Notice how it takes only that one moment to shift?  Shockingly that moment can be really hard to advance to because it is in direct conflict with the ego.  The ego loves and thrives to be in control whether that is beneficial or detrimental to you, it does not discern, it serves only itself.

If you approach, embrace and inhabit this wave in all things you do there is no other outcome except positive change.  If you knew you could not fail would you attempt to try something?  It’s an intriguing thought isn’t it?  I wonder how many would take the chance.  You see our biggest detractors is ourselves.  It’s a lot easier to believe in someone else, inspire someone else because the risk to you is lower, you don’t have to put yourself out there but you also don’t receive the inner bliss that is the reward.

What anyone else thinks of your path is none of your business, simply because it is what ignites your soul not theirs.  Ego inspired thoughts from others designed to distinguish your spirit come from a place of one’s own fear.  When someone tries to discourage you for whatever reason know that they are telling you their story, not yours.

We all have our own unique ways to elevate our lives and we all inherently know how to fan and expand those flames.  I think now is a really good time to explore, to find your inspiration, to allow your own beauty to shine!

Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds!

The New Normal for now…

Well this hardly feels normal but then again maybe the world could use a slowdown, to remember and re-integrate practices in life that have long been forgotten or dropped entirely.  With so much stimulation at our fingertips every hour of every day I would venture to say that many of us were constantly running around and most times on empty, perhaps this is the Universe’s way of cleansing out these toxins.

It’s not surprising that there was so much instant gratification available in the world until now, anyone trying to get anywhere had to be constantly on that wheel to stay ahead and relevant in the “human race”.  With these options now on global pause it gives us all new opportunities and while love may not be the answer to getting this new normal under control I believe it is the answer to getting through it.

  • Loving life and humanity enough to ensure you don’t take risks.
  • Moderating what you actually need so there is something for everyone.
  • Sharing what you can, when you can with those who are struggling.

I’ve always been so focused on my goals and dreams that when I get over one mountain I don’t take the time to celebrate and bask in the glory of my achievement before I start looking for the next mountain to climb.  While this is a good motivational plan, there are many steps that must be checked off and if I don’t take the time to enjoy the little victories how can I appreciate all that it took to get me there?  This global pause in a way has been good for me because I don’t have a choice.  #self-reflection, #faith

Everything in its time and everything in its place, we cannot manifest what we cannot embrace.

My visual analogy of the Universe as a whole is like a body of water, each of us the singular droplets that make it up.  How intimidating would you believe a droplet of water was compared to an ocean?  You see divided we do not have as much power but connected we are a force to be reckoned with.

It is the human “ego” that divides that connection, the part you fight with to maintain equilibrium.  Things that are so plain and simple become convoluted and messy when the ego gets involved.  It’s really easy to express authentically but it is rarely done.  Maybe now we get so much time with ourselves we grow a greater appreciation for connecting with others.  Maybe now we have compassion and empathy for those in difficult times and less fortunate.  Maybe now we respect and love our environment more so it can be bountiful for generations to come.

Maybe this world of anything and everything all at once and all the time is merely overwhelming and things couldn’t have continued so fast paced and addictive.  What can I say I’m a curious thinker?

So being inside I am bound to watch a movie or two and the one that was recently on again was the movie “Lucy”.  I’d seen it before a few years ago but the part of the movie that got my imagination going then and now was the part about the percentage of the brain we utilize.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lbqGp7oZv0

A further extension of this was the theory regarding cells, choosing immortality or reproduction dependent upon the environment in which they reside.  I found this equally interesting and was very curious about the possibilities and parallels within our existence and environment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztoJVKXkc4M

I am by no means fully or even half versed in these topics but I do like to dive deep at times into a variety of thoughts while staying open to any and all perspectives and theories.  The reason this time brought this movie to my mind is because when things occur whether isolated or global my mind wants to look for the reasons and answers.  Sometimes I feel it is in the way we live, the way we treat others and the way we respect our environment.

With all the other awful things that go on in the world how well are we really taking care of each other?

This time, which I’m hearing a number of different timelines being projected for is creating a big change in the world around us.  The question is when all is said and done will we all go back to how it was before?  Can we?  Or is it possible that we create something new, something better, something positive?

Maybe this global pause will help us all re-ground ourselves and come to comfort within our hearts so we can start to see and connect with the glimpse of heaven that lies within all of us

Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds

If You Change How You View Things

Then You’ll Change How You Do Things

Something Old:  Sadness from your experiences is a state of being and is supposed to be the temporary transition period until you have found healing.  It is when you stay in that space for too long that it begins to become a part of your life, the reason for not moving forward and harmful to your soul.

It is my observation when I see someone unhappy or dissatisfied in their life that they are not actually disconnected but most times just feeling that way.  Isolation of the soul can be more damaging to your quality of life but it is the ego’s way of controlling your thoughts and your thoughts can overshadow even the best of realities.  It isn’t always that others are against you as you may feel at times and when you change how you are viewing a situation in your life then it changes the entire validity of that negative thought.  This is not just a theory by Wayne Dyer about changing the way you look at things and the things you look at change, I have actually tested it and it proved to be true which effectively changed the dynamic of a relationship I had viewed differently as well as shifted it into a more positive direction.  Had I done this earlier I wouldn’t have had to endure the thoughts I created with my view for so long which caused discomfort, disharmony and friction.

This isn’t to say that sadness you experience is unfounded but rather that it doesn’t need to stay in the forefront of your thoughts and life for as long as you sometimes allow it.  I’m not discounting that there could be someone or something at the source of an unhappiness but when you know that what is the best route for your soul to take when this occurs?  As always remedies to anything isn’t a “one size fits all” type of decision and outcome but developing your awareness to recognize when you become stuck is how you eventually find your way out of that fray.  Whenever I experience difficulty I consciously step back and look for a different view or perspective because I am aware that the alternative is restrictive thought that can alter my quality of life and I would much rather look for the lesson than fan the flames of the issue.

My remedy?  It starts with communication; expressing and understanding how I, you and all of us affect others within the communications we have.  It is my thought that the biggest misunderstandings can be traced back to a breakdown in communication because this is how we connect with each other, how we are heard and how we are validated.  I understand the feeling of wanting to be heard and validated in the midst of a difficult conversation but when you offer the same in return to the other person you are opening the lines of communication back up and showing by example that you too are dedicated and compassionate about finding resolution.  It’s so much more important to be kind over being right!

You must be the change you wish to see in the world – Mahatma Gandhi

This is no different than any one person extending a piece of themselves compassionately and/or empathetically to nurture and nourish their family, their pet, a garden or those around them in their community.  This is what keeps that interconnected link between us all free and clear of the debris that can corrode and compromise it.

As you evolve letting go of thoughts, attitudes, behaviours and patterns that are no longer working for you relieves the burdens of stress and creates the space that allows for open thought and different views.  My resolve for this struggle in my life was to expand my awareness so I could recognize this for what it was, resistance.  I used to think of resistance in only one definition until I knew better.  In the past my association was relevant to participating in competitive sports as opposition.  Resistance to me was coming up against a roadblock to the direction in which I wanted to go.  What I’ve come to better understand is that at certain times in my life I have embraced resistance when I didn’t allow my natural path to flow unknowingly creating my own brand of opposition.  Of course as we all go through experiences we hopefully learn from them and for this particular aspect in my life I’ve gained an awareness of the part I have played when trying to direct my destiny instead of allowing it to unfold.

Resistance by definition is:  the refusal to accept or comply with something; the attempt to prevent something by action or argument.

I feel it’s just about being consciously alert to the changes that occur for you when resistance is on the horizon and channeling that energy into a more positive outlet to serve you better.

Something New:  I think the best direction to always go is toward the positive, well of course!  Obviously I don’t know everything there is to know about all things but what I do know is that you won’t exact change while embracing the energy that created an issue to begin with.  It is only through doing something different that different results occur.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result – Albert Einstein

What separates us at times is ego, an ego unchecked, imbalanced and overexposed can become overwhelming not just to the people around but the one carrying the imbalance.  A good way to determine what you are projecting is by noticing what you are attracting.  What are your dominant thoughts and are they positive?  Do you see experiences occur in your life that coincide and/or support those dominant thoughts?  If these are not the experiences you want to see changing your views is the beginning.  When you invest more of yourself into the people and experiences it breathes new life into those connections much like the cup runneth over.  In turn you will find that as your energetic output positively changes so does theirs in response.

It is not any one person’s responsibility to fix we are all connected and here to work together.  It’s not enough that we hope someone else is taking care of things but rather that we all work as one, stronger and united in the common goal of caring, nurturing and growing the world around us positively.  Separation exists in ego form and serves only to honor its purpose which divides our souls in human existence only.

If you are looking for inspiration, choose the Lennon of your pleasure in the links below!

While they are both gifted musically and creatively the messages at the forefront that resonate with me serve more as a collaborative guide with which to motivate and inspire us all to look within and help when and where you can.  If we are collectively all working to support and lift up those around us then the environment in which we live becomes the beautiful place it is supposed to be!

I love life, the people in it with me, experiencing joy with them and doing what l I can to preserve and not hurt the natural beauty of the environment we’ve been blessed to enjoy.

Rise or Fall

What Is Your Objective?

Are you going to let the difficult times determine your value and quality of life?

Are you going to build your future on a foundation of pains from the past?

Or you going to let it inspire you to change the direction to a more positive outcome?

with-everything-that-has-happened

When you are feeling stuck which I think everyone has at one time or another (hopefully not too often) you are presented with an opportunity.  The only problem is most of the time you don’t see it as opportunity because when you’re in that place of feeling stuck there are other emotions going on that cloud your view.

The opportunity is change!  Changing your thoughts, changing your attitude, changing your outlook and ultimately changing your life direction.

When you move in the direction of positive change it alters everything in your life:

  • It starts with you and your thoughts, do they sway a little stronger one way or the other (positive or negative side)? What you tell yourself, especially from your subconscious impacts how you feel and how you feel impacts how you interact with others.
  • When your thoughts change so do your interactions with others and how you view and perceive them. Things that possibly annoyed you before begin to become not so important, not because someone else has changed but because you have.
  • When your attitude changes that changes your outlook and your world around you becomes less offensive, not because others have changed but because you have. It’s not “what you get is what you see”, it’s actually “what you see is what you get”.

I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to change your thinking around when you are coming from the place of feeling stuck.  It’s hard to find something solid to stand on so you can rise up from whatever has put you in this place but it is possible.

It takes only a quick shift of thought, that lightning moment to change the direction.  I know that when I get an idea in my head I don’t let it go until I’ve exhausted everything trying.

No one is a failure for trying something that didn’t work, not trying will do more damage to you emotionally through regret than any effort ever made that didn’t work.

Vulnerability is the only way and it’s scary to put yourself out there especially when you don’t know the answers or feel you aren’t ready or strong enough to have them heard but it is such a freeing place to be.  When you allow yourself to be vulnerable there’s nothing left to hide, nothing left to expose or exploit, that changes it into power, personal power!

Whatever caused you to feel stuck is usually not something external but something you find the answers for internally.  Circumstance is just that and circumstance cannot hinder your personal power only you can do that by thinking you are powerless to change a situation.

All situations can be challenged and possibly changed and feeling stuck is only a state of mind, one caused by your own resistance of thinking you are powerless.

Bottom line is you need to be the change you wish to see!

You Want It That Way!

If Not, Find the Changes You Need

You are not a victim of your experiences, circumstances or past nor do they define you, unless of course you allow them to. I think that most times when you feel like there are no options it is because your mind is overwhelmed and cluttered with all the things you feel helpless to change when in reality there are options but the mindfog of what feels overwhelming is clouding your vision and ability to find those options.

It is really just a matter of brainstorming for all the possibilities that are available for you and then start small, step by step. Being able to check off the smaller tasks that take you up to your best available possibility is the best way to increase your positivity and confidence in your ability to change what is to be what you need.

Not every option on your wish list is a possibility right away but that isn’t to say that it never will be. Anything worth having is worth working for and if you really want something you must know that you have to work for it, taking a shortcut doesn’t always work and if it does then there might be some compromises in your integrity required, compromises that you will eventually realize weren’t worth it because they significantly harmed your spirit.

There is no harm in dreaming big and I believe everyone should go for exactly that but with every goal that is big there are a lot of little goals within that big goal that need to be respected and completed. If you don’t appreciate the little victories it is likely the bigger victories will never feel as monumental as they should. When you do the work, go through the little victories and celebrate them because they are still accomplishments then achieving your bigger goal will be that much more fulfilling and rewarding.its not my story

Don’t ever allow you or anyone else to tell you there is no opportunity for positive change and growth in a new direction because there always is. The moment you allow that negativity in is the moment the black cloud blocks your way out and causes you to feel confined, despaired and depressed. Anyone that wants to keep you in that space is likely to use this tactic as they are uncomfortable with the positive change for you and fearful of their loss as you move toward it. It would be in their best interest to support you as you move toward your positive change as it would grow a bond of respect and integrity that would never succumb to the loss they initially feared.

There will also be new people that will come onto your path as a result of change and as you move in a direction that is more in alignment with who you wish to become and where you wish to be you will find that some of those new people will be the supporters you need to help you succeed. I know that at times I’ve looked back to my past and realized that a lot of the people that passed through were essential to my life during that time but after a while both of us move well past the purpose of the placement and not for any other reason than we just outgrew each other that different paths lead us apart.

I do believe that as you grow and experience life’s lessons and tests you will find that certain aspects of relationships you once felt were ok begin to seem intolerable, not because you are angry but because you’ve learned the value of your time and the value of those you really wish to spend your time with.

Always know that any circumstance or situation can be transitioned into a direction that better serves you but only with your intention for positive change, not revenge or spite. Anything under that negative sentiment will be what you get back, always remember the law of attraction, what you think about expands around YOU. Let the universe and karma take care of those that hurt you and trust that whatever will be, will be.

You have within you the power and ability to create and manifest your best life and in the way you see it in your “happy place”. Nothing is impossible and everything imaginable can be yours, if you want to allow it.

Into the New Year We Go!

What does 2015 Mean for You?

Have you been thinking about and/or planning your New Years’ Resolutions? Have you been able to keep your resolutions on track throughout the past years? I find I start thinking about mine in November, I don’t start them then obviously but it’s kind of the warm-up for the final draft when the New Year changes over. I have my standard resolutions which I think everyone kind of does, you know spend smart, save more, continue to build for my future and I think it’s a good time to plant the seeds you want to see manifest. Of course that’s a good thing to do at any time but I think there is more positive energy in the air during the beginning of a New Year. Everyone is full of hope and promise and like I’ve said in past New Years’ posts I believe there is a lot of positive energy that gets unused and sits their idle waiting for someone to grasp the extra boost of magic and possibilities.

happy new year 2014,2015

From what I’ve read through many astrology outlets 2015 is promising to be a year of positive change for many of us. I also have a good feeling about 2015, it’s definitely going to be a year of positive change for me and I have a lot of motivation to keep that energy moving strong and independent. I think it’s important to grab a hold of positive energy you feel around you and use it to your advantage, get a strong grip on your hopes for new possibilities and opportunities, keep your eyes open and take them when they show up, without hesitation. I’ve found that the times when I’m most scared of moving in a different direction have been the times when I’ve received the most benefit. I’m still pursuing many dreams and even though I sometimes get delayed they are always at the front of my conscious mind. If you find that you also get delayed it doesn’t mean give up or maybe next year or maybe that’s a sign and I won’t bother, it just means sometimes there are delays. Your dreams still matter and are still important enough to pursue.

If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough!    – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

So what are your dreams? Do they scare you, are you at times afraid of trying? You see when you put yourself out there and try for your dreams, you are exposed, vulnerable and it’s a scary thing, sometimes scary enough that you don’t want to try. Chances are though that even if you find something isn’t for you it leads you to something better, something you wouldn’t have realized without going in that direction. Honestly I would rather try and realize it wasn’t for me then spend a lifetime of “what if” of regret for not making the attempt and if it leads you to something else you wouldn’t have otherwise discovered even better, there is no downside to that effort.

You get out of life what you put into it, if you don’t go down the path of your dreams, your dreams will never be able to find the open path to you.

If you find your motivation slipping go back to what inspired you to begin with and re-ignite that motivation, it will always be there.

There is nothing you can’t achieve, the only person that can put limits on your possibilities is you.

My wish for all is that you lead with your heart, listen to your spirit and follow your dreams. There is no wrong path when you allow your intuition to have a voice.

Dream Big: If you dream well past what you desire, there is no room for lack because even the smallest achievement is bigger than where you were before.

Achieve Greater: Once you start to see even the smallest achievement show up in your life it will inspire you to push for more and achieve greater.

Believe in Yourself: When you truly believe in yourself it allows no room for any other outcome except that which you believe and desire to see. Seeing is believing. Believing is seeing.

new year 2015 wishes

At the End of Every Storm

Lies the Opportunity for New Beginnings

Our storms in life are the difficulties we experience and through them great change can evolve.same person from the storm

Some storms change YOU so much that you may find yourself going in a direction you never would have chosen, not for any other reason than you weren’t in a place that was in alignment with it before. These new directions are beyond the familiar and can feel scary but at the same time exhilarating at the prospect of what is to come.

Change is not always comfortable especially when it comes to the unknown which means you have to have faith that things will work out as they should and trust that it will be in your best interests. Having faith when you feel a little scared and somewhat skeptical can be a big leap but every time I’ve felt that kind of fear and anticipation it has ALWAYS turned out to be something great, a result that I couldn’t have planned better. I think that kind of anticipatory fear is the “little sign” for me that something big is to come, it may be different for you but pay attention to what your instincts tell you so you can learn when positive change is knocking at your door.

Change can be especially difficult for you if you are headstrong about having control over the direction your life is going, it’s not easy to relinquish it to faith or trust when you are used to being the guide. I can tell you though that it is always well worth it to have faith, even it at first you don’t understand eventually things make sense, so much so that you may wonder how you didn’t get it earlier.

New beginnings, new chapters, new paths all start with new thoughts and ideas and those thoughts are usually brought about by something that isn’t working for you any longer in your life. You may seek to shake up some part or all of your life because you’ve come to a point where feel that there is something bigger you should be doing. That is your purpose calling on you because you are finally within the range of alignment and the Universe assists by awakening that passion within your energy.

I do believe that anyone in search of a better life can entirely change everything around, one can walk into a new direction that inspires and cultivates positive attitude, behaviour and lifestyle simply by making that decision and then by following through. It takes dedication, determination, focus and discipline to carry out and continue on the path you desire and that takes more work than you can imagine but as you know anything worth having is worth working for.

It’s so easy to make a decision to do or change something, it’s another thing entirely to act on it and especially keeping up the momentum to see it through to the end.

I’ve at times made a change and then stopped because it seemed impossible but what I’ve learned is that this fear is created by my ego in an effort to keep me from progressing. Progression like this builds up the strength of your inner spirit and your inner spirit is not in any way connected to your ego. As the inner spirit gets stronger the ego diminishes because it is not needed within the state of inner peace and balance.  Strengthening that part of your being is the best asset you have in helping you succeed in any and all areas of your life.

So in the end, the storms even though they are not desirable, are necessary to your personal growth, awareness and understanding of your soul and the Universe. Know that they are not meant as punishment, they are to provide a higher learning.

Imagine that you are in a boat on the ocean in a real storm, what you learn in that scenario is no different than what you learn through your personal storms, we learn to navigate to survive so we can live another day.

within you is strength

Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

A Day of Gratitude

Although the day of Thanksgiving is different in Canada than in the United States, the meaning is the same, it’s the day of thanks for all we appreciate and have gratitude for.

It’s important to have gratitude in your life, not just on Thanksgiving but as a daily ritual. I think too many times at the end of the day we find ourselves focusing on the things that didn’t go right instead of the things that did and it’s the thoughts that you feed the most that are going to grow.

If I am going to increase any specific state of being gratitude is the best place to start, it positively enhances all aspects of your life and builds an inner strength of character that is unmatched and unaffected by negativity.

gratitude, parent

Gratitude, appreciation and thanks for all that your life has brought to you so far will increase growth in the direction you seek. Your path will have many opportunities, obstacles and lessons along the way and understanding that they are all a part of your personal journey will help you to embrace the wisdom that gratitude ushers in.

Gratitude isn’t just a “means to an end”, it is a way of life that opens up so many other doors, ones you couldn’t imagine or know were there because it’s not just about giving thanks, it is a conscious shift into this state of being that is transitioned not just through forgiveness but awareness, vulnerability and acceptance as well and with it comes a state of happiness that you cannot buy, manipulate or manufacture.

There are many different ways to transition yourself into a daily gratitude ritual and it’s just a matter of finding the one that fits best for you. Possibilities I’ve heard of are starting a gratitude journal that you make entries into on either a daily, weekly or monthly basis. It’s a matter of being able to find that time to focus and make it an important part of your life because once you do those are the thoughts you are feeding and as a result they will grow.

The more you have gratitude for the more you will see the results of that gratitude manifest in your life. If you aren’t one that finds it easy to write your thoughts down, you could take a period of time in your day where you use your thoughts internally, like some of do at the end of the night before falling asleep. Honestly I think it would be better to replay thoughts of gratitude before falling asleep instead of occurrences of the day as it is a more positive place to have your subconscious drift into while you sleep and can then permeate those thoughts into flourishing throughout the following day.

It takes discipline at the beginning to maintain whichever gratitude process you create but as soon as it starts to become personal habit it will then be effortless and you will see your life change in all the ways you had hoped for.

happy thanksgiving

Define Yourself!

Who Do You Think You Are?

You can’t go back, you can only move forward so the question is are you going to let your past define your future or let your future defy your past?

Neville’s Law of Assumption:

If this assumption is persisted in until it becomes your dominant feeling, the attainment of your ideal is inevitable.

This is one of my favorites from Neville and when this really sinks in it gives you the beauty of connecting with an understanding that is not only enlightening but empowering. Think on this for a moment and really absorb the level of consciousness that is being shared with this simple phrase and imagine how much you put into every thought that defines not only you but your actions on a daily basis.building the new

If you have a low opinion of yourself the energy you may be projecting towards others can come across in many different ways, usually none of them are productive or complimentary and that causes others to feel either dislike or indifferent toward you. Chances are if you are experiencing your life this way you aren’t happy about how your relationships or daily interactions transpire.   Most often when it is our own personal behaviour patterns in question it’s sometimes hard to pinpoint where positive change would be of benefit but my own experiences and observations have taught me that a stumbling block in the past is almost always where you will find the moment you got off course. It may seem surprising how little it takes to change or significantly alter your path onto one that not only inhibits your growth but prevents you from living the blessed life we are all meant for.

If you have a healthy opinion of yourself than the energy you project is much more balanced and you likely don’t require any sort of personal approval from others to determine your self-worth. People will be drawn to your candid, contented, happy aura and positive presence. Healthy for me includes humor and a good dose of it at even my own expense which can not only alleviate stress but helps to keep the ego in check.

It would be great if everyone could just be themselves and be comfortable and confident with it. We are all unique individuals and each of us have something to offer this world but if your true self and soul is blanketed by a negative definition of who you believe you are than you are depriving the world of getting to know you, the real you.

Imagine if you really embraced this enough so that your dominant feeling becomes one of positive self-image, it’s worth a try isn’t it? Especially if the outcome is that the attainment of your ideal becomes inevitable.

Our thoughts are much more powerful than I think we often realize and through our thoughts we can either impede or cultivate what we desire. Regardless of whether it’s tough love or not, there is a big difference between positive encouragement, constructive criticism and full-on discouragement and that difference can either impede or cultivate what we desire.

It doesn’t matter what others think, it matters what you think and if what you believe about yourself is in alignment with your standard of integrity. The line of integrity you should never cross is your own and we know when we are at the edge, it’s that feeling that tugs at your conscience and encourages you to do right, not wrong.

If your daily life is positively inspired by and through Neville’s Law of Assumption I don’t believe you will ever go in a wrong direction because it is fed from a place of positive and unconditional light.

Getting to Know YOU!

Breaking Down Your Own Walls to Discover the Person Within!

If you take the time to learn about those you aspire to know or spend time with why is it that you don’t take the time to love and learn about yourself?

Peeling back the layers to find, understand, nurture and inspire the spirit within is an essential part of Self-Care that affects all aspects of your Self Influenced Behaviours.

Self-Image – How do you see yourself?

  • Whether you realize it or not, how you really see yourself is what you project to the world, if you are happy or unhappy others will see it and sometimes feel it.  We all have a distinctive energy around us that can either feel warm, cold or some variation in between and it either attracts or deters those who come near.  Even if you have a protective armor or wall around you that is preventing others from getting in and hurting you, remember it is also keeping them out and preventing them from knowing the real you.

Self-Pride – Where have you set the bar?

  • Your approach to everything in life will be affected by how much value you place on your personal ethics.  You know where your strengths and weaknesses are, continuous improvement of self feeds and nourishes your self-pride which in turn builds confidence, that confidence is characterized by your personal belief that you are limited by nothing and open to everything.

Self-Respect – What are your boundaries?

  • The big question here is how many liberties are you willing to give others in their desire to take what they can from you without giving anything back?  Boundaries aren’t just to let others know how far they can push you but to let everyone know how much you value yourself.  In the past I have allowed my boundaries to be stretched beyond what felt comfortable for me because saying no felt like I was hurting someone’s feelings but what felt worse was knowing that I was compromising my boundaries and teaching that person that taking advantage of me was Ok.

Self-Reflection – Why do you do the things you do?

  • Reflection is your best source for tapping in to who you once were at a time when you liked yourself and it is possible to find your way back to those thoughts, behaviours and boundaries that defined and shaped your life then.  Through self-reflection I have discovered many things I hadn’t realized or been tuned into at the time which has brought me a greater sense of awareness.  Awareness only transpires when you keep your heart and mind open, the hunger to learn and evolve is the wind beneath that carries you into this phase.  Often the reason for self-reflection is out of necessity because somewhere along the way you know you’ve gone off course.  Sometimes so far that anything other than where you currently are is better than continuing in what you know is the wrong direction, backtracking helps you to identify where you’ve made a wrong turn so you can find your way onto a path that is more positive for you.

We are each a small part of the universal source, interconnected on some level or altered state of consciousness.  We aren’t always in that altered state of consciousness but through it we experience a heightened sense of awareness towards ourselves and others.  Taking the time to step outside yourself every once in a while can help you to gain clarity when times are difficult and provide you with insight when your prospects seem skewed.

Self-Sabotage – Who are you trying to ruin?

  • Sometimes immersing yourself in negative familiarity is more counter-productive then you realize because while you may feel you are progressing forward you are actually suspending your evolution.  Stepping into or maintaining such familiarity may seem easier than addressing the root of a personal issue and then again sometimes you don’t realize there is a personal issue to address because your conscious mind is providing you with enough distraction to hide from facing what may be overwhelming and/or painful.

When you allow your past to have life in your present it’s like carrying a backpack around with you 24 hours a day that contains everything you haven’t dealt with and you bring it into every interaction and relationship.  You may not actually be showing others the contents but the unresolved issues are displayed within every action and reaction.  You can’t change your past, you can only learn, heal and grow past that which has challenged and changed you.

Take notice of how certain events and circumstances affect you, be mindful of how you cope, whether it is an internal or external reaction and remember Self-Care for yourself is necessary!  Breaking down your own walls to get to really know and understand the person within will positively enhance all areas of your life and help you to shape a future that benefits not just you but everyone around you.
