The Mastery of Will

You Attract What You Believe

It’s extremely important to really understand the depth and power your own thoughts command.  If someone told you that you created your reality with your thoughts, even the bad experiences that made their way into your life, would you believe it?

I have always embraced good thoughts and subsequent good experiences and even though I’ve always been aware of how impactful my thoughts are on my life I didn’t always connect them on the occasional time they would dip.  It is all energy and alignment, what you are emitting is what you will attract, keeping that in mind when something disappoints, saddens or hurts you will be your most important time of vigilance.

This isn’t to say that every bad experience you’ve had is your fault, you do not intentionally invite bad experiences but the energy swirling around you can.  Your energy has a magnetic field that attracts and pulls in like energy which is why it is so imperative to check in with yourself often, monitor and change your thoughts when necessary.

I do believe destiny plays a powerful role and that my experiences (good and bad) have always had something to teach me.  In the positive light after a negative experience I always look for the lesson, what can I take away from it?  Even an elevation in awareness from a negative experience becomes the positive light at the end of a dark tunnel.

The Human Factor:  When venturing down a negative road within your thoughts you are unconsciously constructing the prison your mind will be sentenced to live in, one that impacts your actions, your outlook and ultimately your quality of life.  Which side of that spectrum you lean toward (positive or negative) is the direction you alone get to choose.  Living in the positive significantly expands and cultivates positive thoughts, actions and outlook on life in growth and for me is the only way.

Every thing began with a thought.  Every achievement began with an action.  Everything you want in life is on the other side of those thoughts and actions.  Fear is the only thing that can stop you from chasing what you desire.  There are a few acronyms to define fear but I heard one the other day that is my new favourite and best describes my relationship with it when I let it in.

  • False
  • Expectations
  • Appearing
  • Real

That is exactly how it has felt when I’ve allowed myself to be infected by fear.  I would magnify those thoughts in my mind giving fear more life and power than it deserved.  Thankfully my determination to overcome that adversity is a much stronger will of mine than fear.  I absolutely refuse to let fear define me in any way.

You have to believe so strongly in yourself and the direction you are going toward that you are able to accomplish whatever it is you set your mind to.  It is within that belief (mastery of will) that you can achieve anything.

The Soul Within:  Hearing and heeding your inner voice is the most effective way to nurture the soul within, to help it flourish and to discover your destined path, divinely guided that is.

Let go of control and allow the Universe to bring toward you what is divinely guided and let your mind be.  There is no need to worry or stress about it, what is meant for you will never miss you.  You have to trust in that and go about your life.  Build what you need to in the meantime knowing all things are going to fall into place when they are meant to without you trying to force things along or in the timeframe you believe it should be.

When you try to force or guide things you end up creating a resistance in the Universe because you are going against its natural flow and divine timing.  I know it is difficult sometimes to allow things to unfold especially if you are feeling inspired or motivated to forge ahead but it is called divine timing for a reason.  We don’t always know the reasons why things occur when they do or when they don’t and it is

Another phrase I heard somewhere in the last month that also resonated with me was “life is not a dress rehearsal and time is not a renewable resource”.  My appreciation with this phrase is a resounding reminder about the importance of a moment, the value of a connection, how rare they are and not to take them for granted.

Life can change in a moment, regret can last a lifetime, say yes to as many life changing positive opportunities as you can!

Shutdown, Walk Away!

Or Live to Fight Another Day?

I imagine everyone has come to a moment or feeling like this and the big question to ask yourself is “am I going to let one moment of fear or vulnerability define me”? As much as I’ve always been a go-getter and/or team player I think the part of this that defines me is that I have no intention of ever giving up until I’ve exhausted every last avenue that leads to the road I want to get to.

fall-down-seven-timesI can definitely say that this determination has paved the roads I have travelled in a very big way! Nothing in life is so big that you can’t overcome it, the biggest obstacle in your life in the face of adversity is you, if you let it. There is no reason you can’t change the obstacles in your life to fit you better and by that I mean that it’s not just the obstacle but how you look at it. A lot of times you may give up simply because the obstacle seems too big to overcome not because it actually is but because you’ve allowed it to grow too much in your mind. Have you ever tried to minimize something that is challenging only to discover that your change in thought about it has actually made it become more manageable?

I think the biggest aspect of realizing or minimizing your challenges lie within your gratitude for the experiences, if you cannot find gratitude in the littlest things in life, how do you ever expect to really appreciate the bigger experiences when they occur and really how will you know how to recognize them?

One thing I know, don’t allow the passion in your heart to flame out, don’t allow your dreams to die and don’t allow anyone to determine what your dreams are worth.

Don’t die with your music still in you……Dr. Wayne Dyer

One of my “go to” paths to re-connect with my inner strength is knowing what motivates and strengthens my resolve, I listen to my power song which seems to feel like my anthem, I think everyone has one of those songs. As old as the song may seem, it takes me back to the time when I felt the most determined and willful, I would play “The Warrior” by Patty Smyth, and I would feel energized, of course I was I was 16 then and had no fear, you know how that goes.  I was ready to tackle all that life had to throw at me head on so I could show everyone and prove to myself that I could handle whatever came my way.

What is your power song, the one that you would identify with as your anthem?  If it inspires you and makes you feel strong then play it when you aren’t feeling as determined and watch how it changes your perspective. I think you’ll find that it will build your inner strength back up to task the challenges that lie ahead and more.

Don’t ever allow yourself or anyone else to make you believe you are unable to take on or overcome any obstacle. When you find yourself in difficulty that is time to check in and ask am I going to “shutdown and walk away or live to fight another day”?

Honestly I think we all have the strength we need to carry us through all challenges or difficulties, we are not given more than we can handle and at times we defeat ourselves worse than any other person could. The best chance you can give yourself when in the face of adversity is to get back up and try again, that is the biggest confidence booster and it’s something you can do for yourself. Pep talks are great, inspiring and motivating but the person that makes or breaks you is you!

Don’t be your own worst enemy, be your biggest fan! Find your footing, stand your ground, walk your path and don’t give up until you get everything you want!

Into the New Year We Go!

What does 2015 Mean for You?

Have you been thinking about and/or planning your New Years’ Resolutions? Have you been able to keep your resolutions on track throughout the past years? I find I start thinking about mine in November, I don’t start them then obviously but it’s kind of the warm-up for the final draft when the New Year changes over. I have my standard resolutions which I think everyone kind of does, you know spend smart, save more, continue to build for my future and I think it’s a good time to plant the seeds you want to see manifest. Of course that’s a good thing to do at any time but I think there is more positive energy in the air during the beginning of a New Year. Everyone is full of hope and promise and like I’ve said in past New Years’ posts I believe there is a lot of positive energy that gets unused and sits their idle waiting for someone to grasp the extra boost of magic and possibilities.

happy new year 2014,2015

From what I’ve read through many astrology outlets 2015 is promising to be a year of positive change for many of us. I also have a good feeling about 2015, it’s definitely going to be a year of positive change for me and I have a lot of motivation to keep that energy moving strong and independent. I think it’s important to grab a hold of positive energy you feel around you and use it to your advantage, get a strong grip on your hopes for new possibilities and opportunities, keep your eyes open and take them when they show up, without hesitation. I’ve found that the times when I’m most scared of moving in a different direction have been the times when I’ve received the most benefit. I’m still pursuing many dreams and even though I sometimes get delayed they are always at the front of my conscious mind. If you find that you also get delayed it doesn’t mean give up or maybe next year or maybe that’s a sign and I won’t bother, it just means sometimes there are delays. Your dreams still matter and are still important enough to pursue.

If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough!    – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

So what are your dreams? Do they scare you, are you at times afraid of trying? You see when you put yourself out there and try for your dreams, you are exposed, vulnerable and it’s a scary thing, sometimes scary enough that you don’t want to try. Chances are though that even if you find something isn’t for you it leads you to something better, something you wouldn’t have realized without going in that direction. Honestly I would rather try and realize it wasn’t for me then spend a lifetime of “what if” of regret for not making the attempt and if it leads you to something else you wouldn’t have otherwise discovered even better, there is no downside to that effort.

You get out of life what you put into it, if you don’t go down the path of your dreams, your dreams will never be able to find the open path to you.

If you find your motivation slipping go back to what inspired you to begin with and re-ignite that motivation, it will always be there.

There is nothing you can’t achieve, the only person that can put limits on your possibilities is you.

My wish for all is that you lead with your heart, listen to your spirit and follow your dreams. There is no wrong path when you allow your intuition to have a voice.

Dream Big: If you dream well past what you desire, there is no room for lack because even the smallest achievement is bigger than where you were before.

Achieve Greater: Once you start to see even the smallest achievement show up in your life it will inspire you to push for more and achieve greater.

Believe in Yourself: When you truly believe in yourself it allows no room for any other outcome except that which you believe and desire to see. Seeing is believing. Believing is seeing.

new year 2015 wishes

My Life, My Way!

YOU Are in Charge

You are the one who has to live in your life every day so it should be going the way you want it to or at least some version of how you see it.  If it isn’t than it’s time for you to take charge of your role and do the work that takes you in the direction you seek.

I think having a plan is the driving force that you need to unleash because we all need something to work toward or gravitate to.  It is inspiration that nourishes the soul, a nourishment that I don’t think any of us should be without because it helps to maintain balance.

My biggest impediments have been allowing those that lessen my worth into my life and it isn’t just through being nasty that someone can lessen your worth.  When you are contributing to something that you know isn’t feeding your soul, you are lessening your worth from what the divine meant it for.

We are here to learn, to grow, to inspire and nourish our spirit to evolve in as many directions as we can while trying to navigate the lessons and challenges that were planned for us while carefully riding the wave of the hidden influences that can interfere.

souls growth

The end result of each challenge is always greater knowledge, awareness & gratitude (if you learned the true meaning of your lesson), if you don’t it will keep cycling until you do.  Your gut instinct will alert you to imbalance but the cycle will only stop when you begin to listen.

We all have an inner war that needs to be battled at one time or another, sometimes more than once and I believe that the way to win your inner war is to take your weaknesses and expose them.

The cycle is your own inner war (no one else’s) and until you embrace whatever is holding you back resistance will serve as your coat of armor.  Unfortunately that coat of armor will also prevent you from progressing forward because a repetitive cycle will remind you of every experience that bears resemblance so you will never truly experience closure.

Without closure it is difficult, if not impossible, to move on.

If you can’t be honest with anyone else at the very least be honest with yourself.  Allow yourself to be vulnerable even if it feels uncomfortable or scary.

Vulnerability is the ultimate healer and I think that’s because when you peel back the layers you expose the core and at your core you aren’t negative, you aren’t hindered by insecurity, you have unconditional love and compassion for others.  Being completely vulnerable is the only way to shed the layers of life that have weighed you down and lowered your hope.  Once you have reached that point there is only one way to go and that is up and why not “go for it”?

Allow your imagination to reach into every depth of your interests, somewhere within your imagination is where your passion and purpose can be found but only if you allow it.

To begin changing the world around you, try one act of random kindness at a time.

Don’t Ever Be Done!

There Are So Many Levels

There is always another mountain beyond the one you’ve just climbed and continually challenging yourself to be all that you can be is the best motivation for your personal evolution and growth.  Honestly I think my best competition is trying to best myself at something I’ve achieved and I always enjoy the challenge.  If I am unsuccessful at first I find it personally motivating to try that much harder again and again until I achieve my goal.  While I recognize that I am stubborn, this trait has proven to be of great assistance because it helps keep me motivated to persevere even if something is more challenging than I had initially anticipated.

I do believe that the people we surround ourselves with in life can either help or hinder our efforts to progress.

If someone believes in you, do them the honor or letting them know their belief in you is not wasted, rise to all that you can be.  One person can make a difference because on the flip side one person’s lack of belief can plant the seeds of self-doubt and that doubt can destroy not only your faith in yourself but your faith in them.

mark twain quote

I don’t believe that we’ve chosen the people that enter our lives but rather it has been destined to evolve because that was the plan from the beginning, whether we realize it or not.

Everyone that crosses our path, negative or positive, are there to teach us how to determine who we want to walk with us through this life.  All of it is a challenge, some challenges are more obvious than others and I think the ones that are the most obvious are our mistakes or missteps because they hurt and we tend to pay a lot more attention to them whether that is trying to dissect why something happened or trying to determine how to avoid it in the future.

It’s amazing how some of the most monumental developments in my life have evolved from humble beginnings, I mean I’ve literally fallen into great opportunities that have seemed so effortless that had I planned for it I would have expected to have to put more effort into it.  I think that’s the beauty of the destined path especially if you are continually pushing yourself onto the next level of your life.  If you are not open to embracing the challenge and the change you become stagnant and that state of being can deteriorate your spirit into so many negative and non-productive directions.

Everything in life is evolving whether you choose to evolve with or not and it’s your personal and life challenges that can either make or break how you far you end up going but these challenges build character and strength whether we desire it or not.

There is a lot of reference now to the “bucket list” which I think is a great motivator but only if you don’t take yourself for granted and have enough belief in yourself to know that you will work as hard as you can to do all the things you have on your list.  The “bucket list” is similar to the vision board and whichever format works best to aide you is the one you should use.  I use both actually, mostly because the more I see something the more ingrained it becomes in my mind and which makes manifestation inevitable.  I must have a million different notepads that I’ve written goals in along with the pages I’ve written them on, torn out and carried around with me.  My process works for me, I’ve done clean-ups where I’ve found these notepads or notes and discovered that everything on them was now a checkmark of success.

I know that these successes are the inspiration for my continued climb onto the next level because I want to challenge and push myself to the limits so I can be happily surprised when I achieve success.  It is a joyful feeling to create and induce your personal confidence level when you achieve something that you didn’t know if you could but challenged yourself anyway because of the inner strength it builds.

perseverence quote

Keeping Your Eye on the Prize!

Finding Your Motivation & Inspiration

My biggest motivation is “keeping my eye on the prize” when times are difficult, upsetting or somewhat depressing.  My prize is what’s ahead, the bigger picture, and that helps me to put the little things into perspective.  Sometimes I can give the little things way too much emphasis and in doing that I am allowing it to change my outlook and attitude and it’s that simple little change that can severely alter my path.  If you trace back to see how you got so off course at times you may find the same thing I have.  It’s hard to believe that some experiences, that are insignificant in the bigger picture, can change your entire direction in life.

It’s not that there are categories in life of what matters the most it’s just what category they fall into for each of us as individuals determines how much of an effect it may have on us.  Something that bothers or disrupts one person may not bother another at all and vice versa.  We are all so different and of course we are not all meant to mesh together perfectly, this scale of yin and yang is necessary for balance.

So when you are experiencing difficulty what helps you get you out of the rut?  It’s obviously healthier for each of us to find a positive way to manage in the middle of a storm, whatever that method may be, but recognize that you need to be able to weather it in a way that doesn’t damage you.

Besides focusing on where I’m trying to get to, I find it necessary to maintain some sort of healthy humor in my life.  If you can’t laugh at yourself at times, I believe you are really missing out, and thankfully I have some great friends that take joy in laughing at me and with me.

My inspiration is in many areas but mostly it comes from appreciating that I have who I need and what I need in my life.  Appreciating what you have rather than thinking about what you don’t have is the key to increasing your happiness, and for me happiness is very motivational and inspirational.

Sometimes it’s in the little moments that you find great inspiration.  There are many people and moments that I find inspirational, I don’t think I could really articulate it well except to say that it’s a feeling, a sense of connection to others and that it is very powerful and uplifting.  I find it to be similar to an “aha” moment, because it can feel that powerful.  Like the “aha” is the moment of greater insight, the “inspiration” is the moment of greater passion and purpose.  Inspiration helps to drive the motivation and at times when you have a difficult time sustaining the motivation try using “the prize” as that assistance.  Below is one of “my prizes” and I keep this visual picture and others in my mind and in front of me when I need it.

I don’t think it takes a lot of searching to find out what your “prizes” are, I believe everyone has them.  Finding your inspiration and motivation to create the reality is definitely worth it!

Feed Your Purpose First!

Does Your Cup Runneth Over?

It took me so long to learn and actually understand the true meaning of this phrase?  I’d heard it many many times before but didn’t really know what it meant and I wanted to share a point of view that I recently learned relating to this.Your cup, essentially, is your lifeline, and as long as you feed and maintain your level in this cup then what spills over the edge is what you have to offer to those who are in your life.  If I let my cup go below level then how can I possibly feed the lifeline of those that I take care of or those that depend on me if I’ve depleted it so much that nothing can spill over.

In feeding my purpose first it allows me the energy, inspiration, creativity and motivation to keep that cup full and overflowing.  This is a cycle that continues and will continue to gain momentum as long as I am feeding my purpose first.  It’s when I start to put others ahead of my LIFE NEEDS that I end up depleting myself and that is a cycle that I cannot afford to let happen.

There is nothing more motivating for me then to have my cup full and overflowing, and what I have running over is the spread of positive light and energy, which of course becomes more and more motivating for me.  The cycle of the positive gains speed just as well as the negative, except for one big difference.  To me the negative is cancer and I have no intention of spreading that in any way, shape or form.

My observations of the differences between positive and negative energy are that they show up physically on a person.

Someone who is experiencing negative thinking and energy has a darkness about them (the equivalent of the sad person walking around with a cloud of rain over their head).  They sometimes look pale or gray, tired, gaunt and unhealthy.  Their body language can almost seem angry and uninviting.

Someone who is experiencing positive thinking and energy has a glow about them (the equivalent of the happy person with the rosy cheeks and big smile).  Their appearance is that of infectious radiance and the picture of health.  They are exuding confidence and are usually quite energetic and open.

I have always been very interested and intrigued by the many unique personalities that are in this world and the only way I can truly understand how some people work is to make sure that I listen and observe fully with an open mind.

My goal is to always have my cup running over, spilling out positive light and energy to all that come into or through my life.   That is not only feeding my purpose but it is what I believe my purpose in this life is.

Positively Empowering!

It’s Never Too Late to Re-Write Your Life Story

It’s been a very contemplative week for me, a lot of deep thinking and it’s all due to the power of the positive.  I’ve had the benefit of watching Oprah’s Lifeclass Tour which began just last week and I’ve found it to be a huge opportunity for expanding my own personal growth.  I don’t think anyone is ever really done when it comes to expanding your awareness.  I definitely don’t think that I have things all figured out and I absolutely love that Oprah is putting on this tour and broadcasting it worldwide.  I am so excited to see positive thinking and personal empowerment being spread on such a global scale.  The opportunities we can all create for ourselves have no limits and this tour is a huge reminder of that as well as an opportunity for anyone looking to experience personal growth, empowerment, awareness, motivation and inspiration.  So far there have only been 2 shows of this tour televised and it has already amplified my own thirst for personal growth and empowerment.  It has helped me to continue to remind myself that what I want to project outward at all times is a healthy and positive attitude and that no matter who or what the circumstance is I am going to be strong and not allow anything to interrupt or change that in any way.

If something is bothering or interrupting my personal flow of life I find that the best thing I can do is try to find the ultimate reason behind it, look for the positive lesson.  Sure, I could shrug my shoulders, give in and scream out “what’s the point of this?” or say “it’s not my fault, it’s theirs”, but for me I don’t see any benefit in doing that ever!  It doesn’t solve anything, it doesn’t make you feel any better and it certainly doesn’t change things.  So if you’re going to say “what’s the point of this?” make sure that question is directed to “what’s the point of me giving this any energy?”.

One of the key things on the first show that I believe to be a very significant factor in a lot of people’s lives is “what story are you telling?”.  If the reasons you aren’t succeeding or moving forward are because of a difficulty you’ve experienced in your life ( in your past ) then you need to stop telling that story.  It’s something that has caused you pain but by continuing to use that as your story (your excuse) you are the one holding yourself back from being all that you are meant to be.

When you continue to re-tell your story of the obstacles that have prevented you from having the life that you wanted, you are reinforcing that story and giving it more energy to grow and become an even bigger obstacle.  Close off the old story – “Life was tough before now, some of it was very painful, but now I’m going to take charge and I’m going to change it, it’s going to get better.  It’s going to be the life that I want and that I was meant to live”.

You need to re-write that story to suit you better to who you are now and who you want to become.  A good beginning, that I have used, is to simply change my perspective and attitude, it doesn’t cost a thing.  Maybe at first you may not see the changes and it’s not because they aren’t there but it does take some time to learn how to recognize your newfound awareness but it won’t be long before you are able to fully embrace it and begin to move forward.

Start your new story now, don’t wait, don’t leave it for another day.  If inspiration, motivation or both strike you, then you need to strike back while the iron is hot.  I know you are totally worth it to re-write your new story, one that is more positive and of more benefit to the direction you want to see your life go.   The only way to grasp a new way of life is to let go of the old one.

Time Out! Working Moms

Finding balance in today’s world is a challenge, to say the least, but extremely necessary to a healthy lifestyle.  Our health depends on our physical and mental well-being.  If we don’t feel good physically or mentally it dims our eternal light.  It’s important for everyone to take a “time out” every once in a while to enhance your life.  It’s during these “time outs” that we recharge ourselves and experience motivation, personal growth and inspiration.

I’ve even had a tough time of it myself this week.  It’s really important to include yourself in the list of people you have to take care of.  How we feel on the inside reflects on the outside and that directly affects the people in our lives.  As much as I want to inspire positive thinking, sometimes I too get affected by negativity when it comes into my realm and find myself unnecessarily snapping at others and that is one of my biggest indicators that I need a “time out”.

If you burn yourself out by not paying attention to your needs then you leave yourself wide open for negative energy to get in and wreak havoc.  When we are well rested, we are strong, resistant and powerful enough to ward off any negativity that could possibly come our way.  Negativity, like everything else, travels in a cycle and our own personal awareness is the beginning of its defeat!

It can be really difficult to find a little or a lot of time for yourself and whatever it is that provides you with what is needed to refuel and recharge your soul is what you need to do.

Because my life is so busy I prefer anything that is quiet and peaceful and hopefully without interruption.  Now this can be a tall order at times, but even a few moments can sometimes help.  It’s like that catnap when working a graveyard shift that gives you the extra boost needed to make it through.

If I could pick and choose, that’s easy – a Spa day! – of course that could get kind of pricey on a regular basis.

So on a smaller scale I could choose 5-10 minutes of listening to a CD of the ocean or a waterfall or anything with nature, for me that is what resonates balance and peace within.  It’s really important to listen to your inner voice. It won’t lead you astray, and if it’s telling you that you need to take a “time out”, then take one.

For myself I need more than 5-10 minutes here and there, but if that’s all you can accommodate to begin with at least it’s a start, an important start.
