Things I’ve Learned So Far

And;  Where they’ve taken me

  • The ONLY disability in life is a bad attitude!

I Give Up, it’s too hard!  Have you ever said or thought this?  The biggest downside to this thought is that you will get what you give out in this situation.  If you’re feeling like your life isn’t going in the direction you want it to, it’s up to YOU to change directions.  If you got lost in a forest would you:

–         Wait and hope that someone finds you

–         Or keep trying to find your way out

number one reason for giving up

I won’t say I’ve never allowed my attitude to get out of balance, honestly I don’t think it’s gone entirely in the bad attitude direction but I’ve teetered on the edge and have usually found that the energy associated with it just doesn’t fit for me.  It makes me feel like I have the flu and I fight hard to rid myself of it.

I believe it’s human to experience all spectrums of emotion, it becomes difficult when we sit too long in the negative ones which gives them the chance to take root, fester and grow.

  • Sometimes I overthink things.

I’ve done this A LOT!  Having a visual mind can work great wonders for you but with the wrong sense behind it, like fear, it can lead you to a whole lot of anxiety.  This has been recent for me:

In the last 4 months I’ve learned that my 14 year old daughter has to have surgery for Scoliosis and with fear in my very visual mind it took me through a lot of bad thought processes.  One of the reasons I went through those areas is because she’s my child, my baby and always will be but also because she was born at 6 months and weighed (1lb, 7 ounces) which is really premature and right from the very beginning I had to relinquish my protective mothering rights to doctors who could help her to survive such an early arrival.  Needless to say it was not easy to watch them poke and prod and even though I knew they were doing everything they could to help her it’s hard to be so helpless when as a mother your main job is to protect.  So now she has to endure yet another big milestone in her life and what I’ve realized is that even though the milestones may look different for each family they usually involve some form of letting go.  I have to let go of the fear and allow the positive strength I know we both have to guide us through it and I know we will come out on the other side more strongly bonded then we were before.

  • Strength in Self is Paramount.

Is your spirit so broken that you can’t find a way out of the disappointment?  I think if you believe that to be true of yourself, you absolutely must change that thought and get it working for you instead of working against you.  Your strength in self in all situations and specifically your inner dialogue can either impede your growth or encourage it.

Pastor Rick Warren says about painful experiences that “God never wastes a hurt”.

All experiences, good or bad ultimately teach us something and our gratitude towards these experiences can either diminish our light or ignite it.  If you feel like negativity is pulling you down, neutralize it by surrounding yourself with those that inspire you and lift you up.

  • Leader or a follower?

I prefer to direct and lead my own path but I will follow a good leader.  If I follow someone and they lead me down the wrong path is it their fault for leading me there?  Or is my fault for following?  In my opinion it is neither, because I made the choice to follow for a reason, somewhere it served a greater purpose for me and even though I may not realize what has driven me in that direction yet it will all come to light at the right time.

Everything happens for a Reason!

  • Faith!

Self-explanatory really, you’ve got to have faith if you ever hope to achieve your greatest desires.  Having faith helps you to develop greater clarity and love in your sense of self as well as personal development.  Sometimes we start out on our path believing what we envision as our greatest desires only to discover later that they weren’t what we thought at all and are led, through faith, to an even better outcome than could possibly be imagined.  So far my life has taken me in and through experiences that have challenged me and have given me a greater clarity in life than I ever realized was possible.  There is NOTHING that cannot be changed or achieved by believing in yourself and in my opinion the only time it’s too late is when you are no longer in the physical world!

Don’t disable yourself in life, believe you can do anything and you will!

Boundary Free!

Choose Your Own Life

No one should be limited in any area of their life, no person or entity has the right to put restrictions on anyone based on their own personal judgement or society’s influence.  Everyone is entitled to fair treatment and equal opportunity, things like gender, skin color, disabilities, sexual orientation or cultural background should not be a point of consideration at any time.  We are all human beings, we are either one or the other anatomically, we pump the same blood and breathe the same air and that should be what is recognized.

Discrimination

With our new world of internet, social media and connecting through various sites, sometimes we do not have any idea of what the person looks like on the other end but yet we find a way to connect as human beings, that’s something to think about isn’t it?  I realize that there are certain expectations associated within certain areas of life and social or professional situations but everyone should have the opportunity to fit in.

There are all sorts of inspirational people around us, the question is do you recognize them for what they have to offer you in the way of inspiration, hope or faith?  Those people are the catalysts for positive change and represent everything we need to develop belief in ourselves.

All cultures have so much to offer each of us by way of learning, it’s not likely that we are going to adopt every part of any culture but I like to learn and adopt at least one thing from them all because not only does it enrich my life but it expands my world around me which in turn connects me to yet another diverse aspect of humanity.Culture signs

We’re not all meant to be the same, it’s the diversity that helps maintain the balance of the universe and it’s that diversity that helps us all to learn, grow and develop.  I couldn’t imagine going through my entire life and not learning or developing any further than the mindset that was formed in my early years.  I think in a way discriminating against others keeps your mindset in a negative zone and that prevents you from progressing and learning because your focus can’t expand past the tunnel vision needed to maintain that mindset.

I have had the displeasure of hearing someone voice their opinion in a discriminatory manner and I don’t know of any way to counteract that behaviour gracefully besides just getting away from that person as fast as I can.  I’ve tried the route of offering some positive thoughts and theories but like all things negative, the grip of that negativity is so tight that is likely that your attempt at enlightenment just doesn’t get through.

Negative or Positive?  That is the battle, that is the balance and that is the diversity.  I do believe that people are gravitating more toward the positive, as the balance of that scale continues to shift I find that the world around me continues to surprise me in a positive way.

–         Choose Your Own Life

–         Follow Your Passion

–         Pursue Everything You Desire

–         Don’t Quit

–         Believe in Yourself

–         Have Faith

Every time someone has told me I can’t do something I intend to prove them wrong, partly because I’m stubborn but the other part is because I’m going to try.  I challenge as many barriers as I can because I won’t allow anyone to put limits on what I can achieve and it’s important to me that I maintain a strong belief in myself.

Take Control of Your Power!

Your Strength Lies Within

Everyone has the potential to be great and what you feed into (positive or negative) weighs heavily on what the outcome may be.  When you don’t reach that greatness it doesn’t mean you don’t deserve it or it’s not part of your destiny.  It could be that you are feeding into the possibility that “you can’t” succeed rather than “you can” and that mindset is something we can build ourselves through fear and insecurity.  Fear can seem overwhelming because in our minds we’ve built it up that big, but we have the ability within us to change that obstacle from a mountain to a mole hill, it’s all perception.

believe in yourself

“A change of feeling is a change of destiny”  –  Neville

I believe that a large part of “taking control of your power” is found within being vulnerable, even though that vulnerability feels scary, it’s ultimately empowering.  The reason it’s empowering is because it takes a great deal of courage to embrace vulnerability and allow the chips to fall where they may.  Being vulnerable helps you discover that you innately have a reserve of strength to draw from that you didn’t know was there and that experience is not only empowering but also humbling.  We don’t always give ourselves the credit we deserve when it comes to our own personal power.  It’s hard enough when another person is discouraging by not believing in you but when you also do not believe in yourself you begin to limit your life opportunities and options and that’s just not right.

My personal inner voice and reaction to anything fear based and negative is that “I am not going to let it conquer or defeat me”, I will persevere, backing out is not an option!

My positive mind says “No Way is fear going to be allowed to win.  Turn around and go back where you came from, you have no business here!”

Negative thoughts like fear or failure don’t stand a chance when you affirm with yourself and the universe that you’re strong and you’re not giving up.  Things only occur because we acknowledge their presence in our existence, everything start with a thought.  Don’t think negatively and negative things will not occur.

By following Neville’s Law of Assumption you can increase your success in any or all areas of your life that you want to improve:

“If this assumption is persisted in until it becomes your dominant feeling, the attainment of your ideal is inevitable”

greatness within

Once you’ve accepted yourself for who you are, others will also accept you for who you are.  When you begin to accept and believe in yourself you won’t put as much emphasis on needing to feel accepted by others and that ease of contentment and peace is a quality that others will gravitate toward and relate to.

I always love hearing a good line from a movie and my most recent that I want to share with you is one that I thought was very inspiring and something we should all aspire to, it’s similar to my own thoughts about having faith in humanity.  The more people believe in others, the more others will rise to the occasion.

“I like to think that if you put your trust out there, I mean if you really give people the benefit of the doubt, see their best intentions that they’re going to want to live up to it.  It doesn’t always work out but more often than not I think that if you do, people will rise to the occasion.  I really do believe that!”

I Got This!

Not a Dream, but my Reality

I know I’ve said this before but there isn’t anything that any of us can’t achieve as long as you have your heart and soul in it and truly believe in yourself!  This is true for an area of your life but my focus in this post is career because I believe that a lot of people out there aren’t truly doing what they feel passionate about and I don’t want anyone to ever have regrets.  Regret is really hard on the heart, it can deflate your spirit and it can invalidate your belief in yourself further then it may already be.

The biggest detractors that keep us from achieving our dreams come from these questions:

–          Am I worthy?

–          Am I capable?

If anyone in your life is questioning their self-worth in any area encourage them to believe in themselves because there is only one answer:  YES!

It’s imperative that you not allow anyone to encroach on your determination to achieve all that you desire.  Anyone at any time can consciously or unconsciously try to deter you from your dreams whether that is there intention or not.  As Wayne Dyer says put up the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your imagination and do not allow anyone else’s opinion in.

The real questions that you should be asking are:

–          Is this my true desire?

–          Can I envision it?

–          Does it feel effortless?

When I was younger I had lots of ideas of what I thought I wanted to do in life only to find that it wasn’t as ingrained as it needed to be for me to achieve it.  I only thought it was what I wanted and in making the attempt to try to attain that goal I discovered it didn’t fit or feel natural.  Your true desire or dream needs to feel like it is what you were meant to do, as effortless as breathing. When I was younger I really thought that I wanted to be a singer, I practiced, I dreamed and tried to chase that direction.  I never pursued it with the passion that I needed to because as much as it’s what I thought I wanted to do it didn’t fit or feel as effortless as breathing like writing does.  I hadn’t realized that I was in the right area, music is creative and my writing is creative but I was not as aware of the foundation of my true desires as I am now.  I don’t think it matters so much how you get there (finding your true desires in life) but rather that you do and remind yourself often that you can do it.  The people in your life that matter the most and care deeply for you will support and encourage you.

The very first step of putting yourself out there and being vulnerable will definitely be scary, but I think sometimes you need to scare yourself that way.  I’ve found that’s how I know I’m on the right path and that experience has provided me with personal insight into my true passion and purpose that I might not have discovered had I not taken the chance.

Do something for you, give yourself the gift of believing in yourself, allow no one to take that away from you and pursue all your dreams with pride and passion!

I Believe!

The Foundation of all that is Possible

Believing in yourself and your dreams is the foundation that builds the reality and it’s the most essential component right from the beginning.  The dreams and desires are the easiest to determine, I think everyone has either a dream job, dream vacation or the entire dream life in mind.  I do not know the percentage of those that realize or do not realize their dreams but I do believe that what separates them are:

–          Belief

–          Courage

–          Determination

I’ve always felt that our belief system at its core is stored within the subconscious mind.  We are awake for a certain amount of hours in a day but when we daydream or sleep we cannot override the thoughts in our subconscious.  If the thoughts within your subconscious are in alignment with your conscious mind and you truthfully believe in you then believing in your dreams won’t be a problem.  If, deep down, you feel you aren’t deserving, for whatever reason, that belief is stored in your subconscious mind and will keep you from realizing your dreams.  Your subconscious is the default, the autopilot, like when you drive somewhere and you arrive at your destination but cannot clearly remember all the turns.  It’s not that your weren’t fully alert while driving but while your conscious mind was thinking about the day ahead your subconscious mind, completely aware, carried on the drive.

When people receive hypnosis perhaps to quit a bad habit or feel more empowered, they are put into an altered state of being (the subconscious) because in there lies the opportunity to re-program.  Same as playing CD’s while sleeping as an alternative to hypnosis.

Our conscious mind is not always aware of the subconscious mind but the subconscious mind is fully aware of the conscious mind so you can still continue to go about your day even when your conscious mind is distracted by the busy thoughts in daily life.

There are many things we do without thinking because they have become “second nature” so we do not hesitate and that is the subconscious mind, it’s like the hard drive of the human being.  For myself I’ve always used the analogy of the subconscious as relating to the old-style Jukebox.  You put the money in and the arm scans until it comes across the correct selected record and pulls it out to play.  The things I remember, I store them in my mind like the Jukebox and when I randomly need that info my brain scans until it finds the correct selected memory and brings it to my conscious mind.

I think everyone has old information, that may be either useless or not, but you still remember it, this is how powerful the subconscious mind is.  Imagine if you program in there your belief in yourself, your desire to succeed and your belief that you can achieve anything you set out to do that you truly have your heart into.

Remember your conscious mind is not always aware of the subconscious mind but the subconscious mind is fully aware of the conscious mind.  This is a very powerful tool you have at your disposal, it doesn’t cost you anything except to feed it your own desires and intentions.

The outcome can be truly fantastic, if you let it.

If you don’t already have your belief in yourself in your subconscious mind then write a new program for yourself.  Write it down and keep it somewhere that you can see it often so that after a while it becomes “second nature” for your subconscious mind.

I’ve attacheda link below to a You Tube video of the song and lyrics to “I Believe” by Yolanda Adams, it’s such a great song, inspiring and motivating.

–          I Believe I Can

–          I Believe I Will

–          I Believe I Know my Dreams are Real

We Are Who We Are!

Don’t Let Anyone Else’s Opinion Define Who You Are

I used to be very aware and very conscious of what others opinions were of me, a little too conscious of it actually, and at times I still am, but I’ve realized that those opinions do not define me.  It’s those closest to me that really know who I am and it is their opinions and advice that have the biggest impact.  I can’t control every comment or opinion that comes my way but I can choose to not allow it to affect me negatively or to change my life direction.

No matter what the circumstances or environment we all have the choice to live either positively or negatively.  I choose positive and happy over negative and unhappy easily every time.  I know that is very easy to say but can be very difficult to do for some.  I’ve always had a positive outlook on life and I’ve always been very motivated, driven and impatient to get to the next phase.

Although it’s the “in between” where the tests, challenges and lessons that come our way are meant to teach, to build and to shape us into who we are meant to be.

Challenges don’t just reveal character they build it.

I believe that each milestone of our age we can discover many things:

1)      A new understanding to old problems

2)      A greater focus on the bigger picture

3)      A more direct approach in life

4)      Less concern with quantity, more quality

5)      Deeper form of Contentment, Balance and Peace

I always used to think that I needed to get everything I wanted done when I was younger and now that I’m a little older I see the insignificance of that belief.  It’s just not my focus anymore and there are so many other things that I’ve developed an appreciation for that I never would have thought possible.

I spent my 20’s playing around, doing whatever I wanted, when I wanted.

I spent my 30’s trying to get my grounding and figure out where I was going, who I was.

I’m now in my 40’s and have found that all the things I was concerned with in my 20’s and 30’s seem so irrelevant now.  I’ve learned that my greater focus is on achieving all the levels of Contentment and enjoying all the great people in my life.  I’m looking forward to the many more impactful people I will encounter as I go along my path.  I always hear from others that have experienced more life than myself about how much better it gets as we get older and seeing how content they are encourages me to look forward to it.

Believing In Yourself

You Can Get There From Here

We all have to make compromises in life and that also includes doing what we have to do to get to where we want to be.  We all have to start somewhere and it’s usually at the bottom because how else can you be appreciative and grateful for what you’ve accomplished if you go straight to the finish line?  It is in the middle of those compromises when we are not yet serving our life’s purpose that becomes the necessary steps to get us there.

Of course, don’t think I haven’t wished for it at times, but if I went straight to victory I wouldn’t have had the challenges along the way to mold me into the person I need to be.  There have been many difficult challenges I can think of that I would’ve rather done without because they hurt too much and were unpleasant but they helped to create who I am today and knowing that now I don’t think I would change them.  It’s during difficulty that we find out our true strength of character, integrity and capabilities.

One of my biggest assets that continues to help me on the road to my life’s purpose is the Law of Attraction (LOA).  Visualization is something I’ve always been good at and is one of the keys to being able to attract what you want in life.   Seeing is believing and believing is seeing.  This is something you can train yourself to do, similar to learning how to do exercises properly to enhance your overall health.  Your mind can learn how to visualize, feel the emotions of those visualizations and that can create the outcome you desire.  Part of this process is that you need to follow your life in the path as if you are on the road to attaining these desires.  You can’t just imagine it, do nothing, and expect it to turn out as you want.   You have to take responsibility for the part you need to play, for example you can’t visualize a healthy and fit body and then stuff it with cookies and ice cream.  Same as you wouldn’t expect your car to run great if instead of gas you put in water.  You have to be in alignment with achieving what you visualize.  Don’t be hard on yourself to achieve and attain results immediately,  I still learn new things to incorporate into my process every day.

One of the biggest points that I’ve always felt is important is not just imagining or saying the words but feeling it within, really believing within yourself that what you desire is yours.  You can’t have your subconscious doubting it, every part of your being needs to firmly believe it without any doubt.

I’m sure you’ve noticed others that seem to be living a charmed life and it’s not just because they have had all the breaks or because they have horseshoes somewhere you can’t find them.  It’s because they are living in the positive, they are attracting all that they desire and deserve because ultimately they just believe

One thing to note is that you will attract whatever emotion you are feeding.  Please be very conscious to work hard to NOT feed the negative, you WILL get more of it, that is a guarantee.

Feed the positive, don’t you think you deserve it?

What are your Intentions?

Living Life with Purpose

Your intentions within your own life are very important to honor and follow.  When I was a teenager I had no idea what my intentions in life were and it took me a very long time to figure it out.  There were many kids in my school that already had a plan for their life’s direction.

The ones that had their ideas and plans made were what I consider now to be the lucky ones because they knew exactly what they wanted to do and what they needed to do to get it.

When I was young and immature I had judged that as being lame.  Nevermind the fact that I had no right to judge in the first place but when I look back now I cannot help but admire those kids, who are now adults, and mostly likely living their dreams.    I remember they were very driven and goal oriented and I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t have walked the path that they had charted.

If you were like me when I was young then there is no point in having regrets that hold you back now, there’s no such thing as “too late”.  Our intentions, no matter what they are, can feed our desired achievements now and well into the future.  It’s just a matter of believing in yourself, your dreams and the possibilities of the future that you want.

You’d be surprised at how simply shifting your thought process can directly affect the outcome of your reality.  Truly believe that you can achieve something, have your intentions and sense of purpose be in alignment with that and you will be unstoppable to attain exactly what you desire.

It’s those inner needs and instincts that are in alignment with your true purpose.  We always know when something doesn’t feel right but sometimes follow through anyway and that is when you are not in alignment with your soul.  Follow your inner needs and instincts and you will never be led astray.

I can’t even begin to tell you how free you will feel when you follow your life’s purpose which is also the path of least resistance and so much easier than battling to succeed at something that didn’t feel entirely right to begin with.

Don’t Dream Practical.

Dream Big!

Dream Soup for the Soul

Your deepest desires and dreams are what feed your soul. Don’t ever give up on trying to achieve something because of a self-imposed limitation or the limitations imposed by others. There is no shortage of desires, but there is a shortage of people with the determination to achieve them.

The only one who can hold you back is You!

Every person out there who has achieved their dreams always shares the same messages:

  1. Don’t give up!
  2. If someone had told me a couple of years ago that I would be here, I would have never believed it.

My theory is that it’s half fear (not believing in yourself) and half lack of faith (not believing in the higher power of the universe). Everything we do ties into the LOA ( Law of Attraction ); we are actually always operating in that state of being. The question is whether you want to make it work for you or against you. When we are fearful of the prospect of change or failing, this will have the LOA operating against us because what you are giving your most energy to will increase. When we are faithful to our hearts’ desires and positive thoughts are abundant, then the LOA operates with us and increases that energy.

My biggest moments of fear have also been my greatest moments of positive change. Change that has taken me into a much more beneficial area of life then I could have ever predicted or imagined. Every time something great has happened for me has been when I have let go of the reigns and believed. It’s difficult to do and sometimes scary, but I can honestly say I have never been disappointed, and I’m always happily surprised. It actually takes more energy to resist than to go along with destiny. Everything always works out as it is supposed to. Why make it difficult for yourself along the way?

I could have easily given up so many times and blamed circumstance, timing, etc. but my will (maybe I mean stubbornness) is far stronger than my fear.

I fully believe that we all can do anything we need to or desire to, against the odds that others may throw at us or our own.  We all have a strength within us to achieve. Just tap into it, don’t let anyone ever discourage you, and don’t accept anything less than you deserve.

Truly Believe in yourself!  You won’t be disappointed.
