It’s Not Who You Are, It’s the Behaviour!

De-programming your Patterns

Finding the root cause of any behaviour that you know in your soul isn’t right is the only way to change your patterns.  Awareness to the lack of the success you may have in an area of your life that you are unhappy in is the first step.  Recognizing and owning your flaws and behaviours is not easy or comfortable to do but you need to allow yourself to be vulnerable.  Vulnerability is not weakness, it is a form of courage and strength, like the calm before the storm that brings refreshing change.  Every time I have felt vulnerable or scared has been a moment of significant growth that has positively enhanced my life. Acknowledging that there is a familiar pattern and wanting to change that pattern is the key that unlocks the door to healing.

vulnerable

I think most of us are variations of either Self-Destruction or Self-Improvement, or both, and there are many factors that contribute to the level of how far we tip the scale.  What is your level of truth?

Do you find that you keep ending up in the same place at the end of any given situation even if you have the best intentions in mind?  When I started to recognize this in my own life I realized that I needed to do some work to figure out why these patterns kept showing up.  These patterns can create a cycle of disappointment within that can then evolve into self-destructive behaviour.

Bad behavior doesn’t mean bad person, it could mean conflicted, confused, reactive or could have developed as a result of a great trauma, hurt or betrayal.  When you continue down the path of self-destruction you risk becoming so numb that you fall of the edge that you’re already emotionally dangling on and that can lead to a variety of negative and/or tragic outcomes that don’t need to occur if you just honor your pain to heal.  Carrying it through your life on a daily basis will take a toll on your emotional, physical and mental health and ultimately be very harmful to your inner spirit.  You can end up restricting yourself from so many opportunities just because you can’t or won’t let go of emotions that are keeping you imprisoned within your mind by replaying the tapes that caused you pain.

behaviour

No one can see how you feel on the inside or what you’ve been through, could you imagine if all that was displayed on the outside of you?  There would be no way to hide anything and your vulnerability level would be out the roof.  There would be no way to deny what goes on inside and you would either have to put up with everyone knowing your truth or working it out.  It’s really important to do the work so that your inside can match your outside because until it does you will always feel conflicted, out of sync and struggling to find your way.  If something that wasn’t great propels you into the right direction, and that direction leads you something better than I believe that is the silver lining.  Everything happens for a reason!

We are not here to fulfill the dreams of others, we are here to share in theirs but fulfill our own dreams, find our own passion and our own place in this life.  That place will feel most in alignment with your inner spirit and feel as comfortable as home or whatever you consider “your happy place”.aha

It took me a long time to recognize my patterns but that awareness expanded my desire to delve deeper and I find new levels of insight and “aha” moments that tell me my work is not done and that’s good.  I don’t ever want those to end because that’s where the magic happens!

Finding Yourself First!

May Help You Find Your Direction in Life

It’s hard to know what you want out of life or what you’re looking for when you haven’t fully figured out who YOU are.  It’s taken me a long time to really realize my direction in life and to become aware of some of the reasons behind some of my choices.  I’ve made wrong turns because I wasn’t fully aware of my real motivations and underlying needs and even though I had thought I’d gone in a specific direction for a specific reason, I had discovered later that I was compromising one need to meet or maintain another.  The biggest “aha” was that I wasn’t even aware that I was doing this or what my real needs and/or desires were because I was too distracted in every area of my life to realize that I didn’t know who I really was.  I had normalized in my mind that having every moment of my day spoken for meant that I was getting things done and fulfilling the normal life plan, at least that was my misguided understanding.  We’re not all built the same so why would there be a “one size fits all” life plan that everyone conforms to, the life plan itself should conform to each individual and I don’t believe that everyone gains happiness, peace and balance from travelling the same path.

finding your way

I have come to these realizations at various times over the last five years because I’ve been interested In the bigger picture and wanted to find the root of why I kept ending up in similar life scenarios whether that was within family, friend or intimate relationships.  You know, if I keep doing things the same way I shouldn’t be expecting different results just because my intentions or awareness has changed or grown.  No doubt there will be many more of these realizations to come as I have more chapters of my life to fill and from what I’ve learned so far this leads me to believe that this enlightenment has only just begun.

I think that when you get “stuck” in certain areas of your life it’s because there is something bigger that is holding you back and when you start to rewind and replay those that didn’t go as you’d hoped, you will likely find the pattern that is keeping you “stuck”.  Recognizing and becoming aware of the patterns that you’ve repeated can be the first step in turning your entire life around because once you’ve brought yourself awareness it will help you to create a new pattern.  When you change things up this way you will find yourself in very new and very unfamiliar territory.  When I started to recognize and slowly change those areas of my conditioning I found at first, that it felt a little weird, but in a good way.  The main thing I noticed is that I’d eliminated the self-doubt and replaced it with a stronger sense of self-guidance.

Of course all changes we make to improve our lives will have a transition period and uncertainty can usually be expected but as long as you listen to your heart and follow your gut instinct I don’t believe you will end up on the wrong path.  Acknowledging how things make you feel along the way and allowing yourself the freedom to step outside of your comfort zone to explore areas of life that you had never thought to try will help to ease the transitions and reduce the fears.

No matter what path you take or process you use to learn more about who YOU are, it’s that awareness that will help you to gain a greater understanding and contentment overall.

Awareness is Power!

Breaking down the Walls

There are many inspirational, motivational and spiritual teachers out there that are available to all of us, all the time.  They help us through their teachings, insight and universal wisdom and it’s as easy as picking up a book or surfing the internet but in order to absorb this wisdom you need to be open to receive it.  I believe that depending on where we are at within our lives whether that is age, awareness or state of mind, it can determine how willing or open we are.  For example, when I was in my 20’s I wasn’t aware of anything related to personal growth or life’s lessons, not because I was close minded but because the thoughts never even occurred.  My life revolved around playing sports, having fun with friends and shopping, I didn’t start to develop awareness until my 30’s and from that awareness came a desire to discover who I was, what I wanted, where I was going and what it all meant.

I discovered that my connections with some of the people in my life began to transition to a deeper level and that I was drawn to certain individuals because they had a brighter and positive perspective, outlook and attitude.  The transition to my new awareness was seamless and flowed naturally because I was more than willing to embrace it and in turn it enabled me to develop a heightened sense of intuition.  I didn’t struggle with not understanding what was going on within or feeling like I was in some sort of limbo so it was hard for me to relate to those that did but somewhere in between I began to realize that none of us do anything the exact same way as the other.  That is our individual and unique quality, it defines and differenciates us from one another and is to be respected.

We don’t develop, learn or find our path in the same time frame and shouldn’t be expected to or be judged for it one way or the other.  No matter what stage you are at with starting to develop your awareness or just desiring it, it doesn’t matter because at least you’re aware and that’s the beginning.

The road to self-discovery isn’t always easy, everyone has an off day every now and then but if you are having more than one of these days for longer periods of time, then there may be something more going on beneath the surface that would be beneficial for you to learn what the root is.  Downtime that goes on for too long is an indication that there is something deeper affecting you and chances are if you are experiencing this then you are also frustrated, may have a deep sense of sadness and/or feel alone.  This is your inner voice signaling to you and letting you know that your current process needs to change because you don’t need or deserve to feel this way.  It’s important that you listen to your inner voice, it is in alignment with your inner spirit and knows when something is off even if you aren’t fully aware of it yet.   I didn’t always listen to mine when I should have and found that some areas of this process took me longer to reach enlightenment than necessary and because of that I was very hard on myself.  That’s a natural response but of course knowing that doesn’t make it any easier to take although it did help me to lighten the blame I sometimes placed on myself.

If there is something you’re having a difficult time with, don’t judge yourself too harshly, allow yourself the time you need to learn and the time you need to heal when you experience a setback.  If something has you down for too long do what is necessary to prevent yourself from staying in a perpetual state of unhappiness.  We are all here for a reason and I believe it is to live the best life we can.

breaking down the wall

My favorite and most inspiring teacher/mentor is Dr. Wayne Dyer, I have learned so many new ways of thought process from him and just the other day his PBS Special “Wishes Fulfilled” was on and even though I have seen it, I watched it again.  One of the many things that he spoke of during this special was something that everyone can try tonight and every night before you go to sleep that will improve your quality of life going forward.  I have quoted some dialogue from his special below:

Job 33-15-16

“In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men while slumbering in their beds, then He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction.”

Your subconscious mind is most comfortable when you are unconscious.  You are unconscious when you are in your sleep state and in your sleep state your subconscious state is busy at work and it’s the last 5 minutes of your day that are so important.  When you are in that state between being awake and getting drowsy and going to sleep and you are going to marinate for the next 8 hours in your unconscious subconscious mind.  When you’re preparing your marinade, the question is “how do you want to prepare yourself for having your instructions sealed?”  Most people use the last 5 minutes of their day to review all the things that they don’t like, and all of the things that didn’t work, and all of the people that hurt their feelings, and all of the stuff that is going on in their life that they wish weren’t happening, this is their worry time.  This is the time when you fill your mind with all of the stuff and then you go off into sleep and he opens your ears and seals your instructions while you are slumbering. What you want to do is reverse this practice because your subconscious mind is listening to how you are asking the universe to provide for you what it is that you would like to attract or manifest into your life and if you fill your subconscious mind with all the things you don’t want, don’t like, that make you unhappy, that make you depressed, that make you worry.  Then your subconscious mind, which is impersonal, and can’t make a distinction between what it is that you are feeling as a result of what you place into your mind or what is actually happening in your life.  It doesn’t distinguish one from the other, it is just open to suggestion, and here you are suggesting to your subconscious mind all the things you don’t want.  What would you rather have sealed before you drift off to sleep “I am unhappy” or “I am happy”?

It was amazing to me the first time I saw this special and this particular piece was such an eye-opener to me.  I’ve done this before falling asleep, reviewed my day, thought about the things that bothered me in depth and then fallen asleep with those thoughts.  I hadn’t realized that one little adjustment to that could make such a huge difference in aligning me with a happier and healthier state of mind and being.

So tonight when you are in those moments before you are drifting off to sleep, let your imagination of hopes and dreams have the chance to run free.  Think about all the beautiful and positive things you dreamed of as a child for what you wished for in your life and let that marinate overnight.  I think you will have a different sense of self-direction and state of mind the next morning.

Every Journey Has a Purpose

Are You on the Right Path?

We have all been given what we need to help us get through the challenges we are meant to face.  That help is available to you all the time because it is within you but sometimes it’s difficult to tap into it, especially when negativity has you in its grip.  If you are feeling low, unworthy or disappointed within any area of your life, you have the power to change it.  The big question is “are you going to” or is it easier to place blame and say that’s why it’s not going to change.  Regardless of whether or not you have found your purpose or feel that there is a purpose for you in this life, Pastor Joel Osteen has the real deal on this, his quote below:

If you are breathing, God has a purpose for you.  As long as you have breath, somebody needs what you have, somebody needs your gifts, somebody needs your time, somebody needs your love.

His words are very true, we are all here to learn, teach and grow from every experience and obviously if we grow positively, that is ideal.  It’s not about that fact that you stumbled or fell, it’s how you got up and what you did to move forward while maintaining a little grace and dignity along the way.

If you haven’t found your purpose or passion yet it’s doesn’t mean you don’t have one, it just means you haven’t come to the place in your life yet where all that needs to be aligned for it to occur is fully aligned yet.  With every challenge or lesson I experience I always know that there is a greater purpose for it and even though I don’t know what the greater purpose is yet I know that I have enough faith to believe that it will work out as it is meant to and in the right time.  I know it can be really difficult to wait it out but I am not on my own clock for my intended lessons, it is the universe that will decide when the time is right so there is no point in my stressing about it or resisting.  One of your biggest assets in times like these is having faith and trusting in that faith.

Changing the conversations and internal dialogue that you have with yourself is another one of your assets.  It’s amazing how different your life can be if you start to believe in yourself, others will follow and believe in you too.  Instead of feeding the voice of negativity, the one that tells you that you aren’t worthy, intelligent, beautiful, abundant and so on, feed the voice of the positive.  The Universe responds to whatever you are telling yourself whether that is negative or positive.  Start telling yourself how lucky and blessed you are, live, breathe and feel the emotions attached to those statements and you will find that you will start to see great things develop in your life.

The biggest hurdle you will have is at the beginning because it starts with acknowledgement and awareness and changing and expanding those two require a lot of discipline.  If you’ve had significant difficulties in your life so far, the first thing you can acknowledge is that regardless of how challenging or disheartening they may have been, you made it through it.  That’s a huge accomplishment and not one that should be ignored or pushed aside.  Don’t put the emphasis on how awful it was, put the emphasis on how impressive it is that you came out with more wisdom then you went in with.  My other favorite quote is from Wayne Dyer:

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

This is a great example of how changing your focus can put the right emphasis on the challenges you’ve had so far and when you do that it will also de-emphasize the severity of the negative thoughts that you may be replaying in your mind.  It will also reinforce your feelings of empowerment, pride and self-respect and that is the beginning of the new and improved path.

Your internal dialogue is the most prominent voice in your life, whether it is subconsciously or consciously fueling your thoughts of self-worth.  The best change you can make in your life is to use this internal dialogue in a positive and productive way for yourself so that you can live your best life.

One of the biggest changes I’ve made that always turns out to be the best decision is stepping out of my comfort zone and choosing the road I am scared to travel.  I think sometimes we need to take risks and scare ourselves, it is within those risks that we experience the most personal growth and achievement, at least it has been for me.

Lessons, Lessons, Lessons!

Embracing Them All

I really believe that everything happens for a reason and as it should in the right time, although I’ve had my faith significantly challenged in these beliefs at times which has led me to question certain occurrences in my life.  I’ve come to the conclusion in the last little while that regardless of how difficult it may be, embracing the lesson may be the answer.  Even the lessons that don’t seem like there is a conclusion to, I think sometimes, embracing the lesson is the conclusion.

I have both resisted and accepted different lessons I’ve experienced, and so far resistance has been the most harmful to me and has caused the negativity attached to the lesson to drag on for much longer than it needed to.  As well, I noticed when resisting that the lesson has continued to appear in my life, whether I liked it or not, through different scenarios and/or people, until I was finally able to acknowledge, understand and progress from it.

On almost every lesson I’ve had so far I’ve discovered that there was a need that I wasn’t aware of and wasn’t allowing to be fulfilled because my ego was quite sure it knew what the need was and was searching in the wrong place.  With my ego venturing off believing it knew best, I’ve wondered if it is possible for those in our circle to get caught in the middle of a lesson that is not part of their path simply because of their placement and vice versa.  When you are emotionally attached to someone it can be hard to sit back and let them lead, especially if you feel you can help, but ultimately it is their lesson and not our place to invade.

What does one do when they find themselves in this situation?  I believe that our awareness and inner voice (gut instinct) will let us know when that is the case and guide us to step back, the challenge is whether or not we listen to it.  The best I’ve found is to offer but not insist, you can’t steer someone else’s ship but you can help guide them through the rocks.

My thoughts have started to sway towards an understanding in the divinity of it all, are these really mistakes?  Or are they guided interventions that the universe is arranging to help us move in the direction of the path we are meant to be on?  I’ve realized that without some of the more challenging lessons I’ve had there may have been so many areas of thought, intention, passion and purpose I may not have discovered.

My curiosity is these different areas of thought are strong and I like investigating all the options, if I don’t I leave myself without possibilities.  It’s the possibilities that create the energy I need to sustain myself through the difficult times and it helps me to find a way to dance when it rains.

I’ve found that embracing all the lessons is providing me with a calmer sense of being, energized intention and a stronger insight into enjoying the journey.

Things Aren’t Always What You Think

Are your Signs Getting Through?

Sometimes the signs aren’t always what we expect, or even how we expect them to materialize in front of us.  Sometimes the strangest occurrence is what makes the most sense later and I’ve always found that to be so odd when it happens to me.

Some of the biggest challenges I’ve had seemed so senseless at the beginning but have turned out to be the most valuable lessons and not one of them materialized in the form even close to what I had envisioned.  I believe the signs we receive are much like the old tale that everyone repeats about finding love.  It comes when you least expect it and it’s not at all what you had in your mind.

I think that sometimes the signs are repeated through various forms until we recognize them for what they are supposed to signify to us.  I’ve recognized that when it finally clicks for me in that moment and the sign (whichever way it came in this time) finally made it through to that part of me that says “aha!”.  I then realize and remember the previous times it came through and I didn’t catch it because it was either too subtle for me or I wasn’t open to receiving it in that way.

I think the biggest sign is the “pay attention now” sign that the universe supplies to us when we don’t listen or just can’t seem to get it.  It’s like a slap upside the head (metaphorically) that is meant to jerk you back to reality.  Depending where you are at in that moment could determine the severity of this sign but I believe it comes at a time when you are about to make a very bad decision that could be either severely disastrous or fatal.  Hopefully at that point you realize what has been staring you in the face all along because if you don’t this will continue to happen and that slap gets stronger and stronger until you become aware.  It’s better to notice much sooner than later, I’ve had a lesson repeat and it’s not fun, second time around was much more difficult than if I’d learned it right the first time.  Given the extent of the downtime for experiencing the lesson a second time around, I’m so glad I didn’t head for the third.

If you are running into a same issue or difficulty on a repeated basis within your life then you may be in this cycle.  Experiencing the same thing over was a big eye opener for me that ignoring something doesn’t make it go away quietly, it just hides it for a while, only to resurface until you find resolution and/or closure.  The outcome of that resolution or closure is something that will be a personal and reflective process specific to each of us and I believe we all go through it at one time or another in our life.

I do believe that “everything happens for a reason” and if I was meant to go through a specific lesson more than once then I believe it’s because it was necessary to my personal growth and development and would aid me later in life, that is my faith and what helps me to look at these lessons in a more positive and productive light.

I don’t have an “aha” moment every day but I’ve had more than one in my life so far and they are such monumental moments that I view them as blessings.  Blessings I hope for, look forward to, welcome openly and appreciate.

Your Life, Your Choice!

Every Move Counts

We all make choices in our lives every day, some are good choices, some are bad choices, the question is, are they the right choices for you?  Are you being true to the person you know you are inside, and where you envision your life to be going?

We all have positive and negative experiences but I do not believe that the experience itself is the downfall or a valid reason to hold anyone other than ourselves responsible for where we progress or don’t progress to.

All choices, good or bad, are ours to make, which makes us, the individual, the sole person responsible for where things go from there.  I do believe that we have events, occurrences and situations that help to shape and teach us.  Everything happens for a reason and I believe the opportunity that lies within each challenge or blessing is to create an awareness that we had not yet grown into until that time.

I’ve had the opportunity to observe many different personalities in my life so far and I know that there are many more out there that have yet to cross my path.  Some of these people I thoroughly enjoyed and some not so much, but all of them have had an impact and brought about a greater awareness for me,  some in areas I hadn’t really explored, and some I wasn’t yet aware of.  I have learned some very valuable aspects of life from very specific people, ones I really don’t think I could do well without.  Regardless of the lessons, challenges or blessings I have experienced so far, the outcome and how I perceive things from then on, whether I’m stuck in a good or bad mindset is mine alone.

I’ve come across some very inspiring individuals that have blown me away emotionally because at the core they are truly beautiful, in ways that has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the physical.

I have come across others that are the polar opposite and fully believe that life and society has failed them, owes them and they are not responsible for any of the bad circumstances or choices that have plagued their lives.

There are various degrees of both of these drastic and opposite personalities but the one thread that seems common to me is that regardless of the challenge we all have the choice to let it inhibit us from personal growth and happiness or let it help us to flourish and experience a better and more meaningful existence.

  • Are you making the right choices for you and being true to your conscious and sub-conscious self?
  • Are you making the right choices for where you see yourself 5, 10, 15 or 20 years down the road?
  • Are you making the right choices for a personal happiness plan ( PHP ) that is in better alignment with who you really are within?
  • Are you making the choices that don’t leave you with regrets when closing in on the last chapter of your life?

I think we’ve all had our moments of making good and bad choices, it’s how we handle them from there that defines us.

Don’t Lose the Lesson!

Carry the wisdom forward

I’ve heard the phrase “forgive and forget” many times but I’ve learned that while it is essential to forgive, it is just as essential not to forget, carry the wisdom forward.  The most significant aspect of the events I’ve experienced so far, whether desirable or not, were the lessons I learned and the personal growth I gained.  Without some of my lessons it may have taken me longer to realize that I needed to develop a stronger set of boundaries, boundaries that should have already been in place.  If I was to forget my lessons I would lose along with them, the wisdom and experience I need to prepare me for the future I am meant to live.  I really believe that “everything happens for a reason” and if I am able to step outside these events, even for a moment, then I am able to provide myself with the necessary insight and awareness that directs me to the bigger picture.

When I have things going on in my life that are upsetting or disappointing I always find that if I were to look around there are others that have much more difficult situations to deal with.  It’s at this time that I realize how insignificant my issues are in comparison and that I need to remain thankful for the guidance and greater knowledge that these situations offer.  I’m not saying the problem or issue doesn’t matter but it does help me to scale down the severity, especially when I am too emotionally connected to a situation to be objective.

We have one of two options when faced with adversity:

1)      Use it as a positive force, a catalyst, to change and create a better future

2)      Use it as a negative force, an excuse, to hold you back from having the future you desire

I’ve read and heard so many stories of people that have come from terrible upbringings and backgrounds and have used that pain and sadness as a force of positive strength and determination to change their circumstances and create a happier and more fulfilling life.

It’s amazing how much we can learn from others if we just pay attention, and care to listen.  We are all here to learn and progress and there are so many people that have been and still are in my life that have taught me some very significant and invaluable aspects.  I don’t believe that any one person or event in my life has been a coincidence.  I believe that we all come here with a purpose and passion and those involved in our lives are here to help us along that path, our conscious is not aware of it but our inner voice is.  Our inner voice is always whispering to us and I can honestly say that since I started paying attention to my inner voice I’ve had great things occur and discovered a deeper sense of happiness.

For me experience has been a good teacher, mistakes have been an even greater teacher.  Everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect, but without the mistakes I’ve made I wouldn’t have gained the knowledge or insight on how to navigate and discover my life’s purpose.  Through making mistakes I’ve developed a stronger sense of inner strength, depth of character, a clearer definition of the future I want to manifest and the importance of carrying the wisdom forward.

In or Out of the Zone

Operating within the Law of Attraction

I’ve found this week to be quite enlightening and it’s given me a heightened sense and understanding of the Law of Attraction.  I found that last week I was a little off simply because I allowed certain situations to become something I stressed about.  By keeping myself in this area I was not operating within the core of the Law of Attraction.

To clarify what I’m trying to get across I’m going to use this analogy – Imagine that there is a huge party going on inside an arena and you can see everyone in there having a great time and they are all radiating positive, exuberant energy.  You want to be in there but you just don’t have that same positive energy and exuberance going on because you are allowing someone or something to inhibit that positivity from flowing (you’re in a bad mood) so instead you are on the outside looking in.  It’s not because you don’t want to be in there but you’re not open to absorbing or contributing to the positive energy in the center.  Negativity cannot stand or survive within a positive environment, it repels from it, that is why there are certain people we are drawn to and certain we avoid.

The Law of Attraction is a positive state of being, but picture it as a huge vibrational ball of energy and at the core is where everyone who is “in the zone” is hanging out, experiencing life positively and outwardly projecting all that their inner spirit has to offer.  When you are truly being yourself, no pretense, you will find that even though this is the easiest thing to do, it’s also the most natural and naturalness flows effortlessly.  It’s that naturalness that is most in tune with your higher self and inner spirit and it’s through that that you will find your higher calling and purpose and of course most gratifying life.

I noticed that when I turned things around (flipped that switch) and stepped back into the zone that everything picked up immediately, and I do mean immediately.  The universe knows when we are in and out of sync with ourselves and attracts accordingly.  Even though I thought I had a great read on myself, what I needed to do, and how in control I thought I was, I discovered this week that my thoughts (no matter how small) play an extremely prominent role in my daily reality.  I already knew this but I had not realized that even the miniscule thoughts and ideas played a part in taking me entirely “out of the zone”.

Out of the Law of Attraction, out of my positive state of being, out of the zone!

The strongest asset I  have on my side is my awareness and having that awareness heightened to recognize the most minute detail having an effect on my daily life will definitely change how determined I will be in the future to prevent it from taking me out of the zone.  Every little piece of our psyche counts in contributing to our overall sense of being and learning to recognize and redirect it to the positive will provide a more fulfilling daily life.

I have attached a very powerful You Tube video featuring Esther Hicks and it’s the video that helped to bring me into the zone and one I watch when I feel out of sync.  Being in a state of appreciation can really bring you back into the zone by showing you the greater importance in life.

Sorry all, it’s 7 ½ minutes long but if you have the time it’s well worth it, as are all of the videos put out by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

My biggest excitement today is my daughter’s birthday ( Felicity is 13 years old )

Happy Birthday my beautiful Girl!

Positively Empowering!

It’s Never Too Late to Re-Write Your Life Story

It’s been a very contemplative week for me, a lot of deep thinking and it’s all due to the power of the positive.  I’ve had the benefit of watching Oprah’s Lifeclass Tour which began just last week and I’ve found it to be a huge opportunity for expanding my own personal growth.  I don’t think anyone is ever really done when it comes to expanding your awareness.  I definitely don’t think that I have things all figured out and I absolutely love that Oprah is putting on this tour and broadcasting it worldwide.  I am so excited to see positive thinking and personal empowerment being spread on such a global scale.  The opportunities we can all create for ourselves have no limits and this tour is a huge reminder of that as well as an opportunity for anyone looking to experience personal growth, empowerment, awareness, motivation and inspiration.  So far there have only been 2 shows of this tour televised and it has already amplified my own thirst for personal growth and empowerment.  It has helped me to continue to remind myself that what I want to project outward at all times is a healthy and positive attitude and that no matter who or what the circumstance is I am going to be strong and not allow anything to interrupt or change that in any way.

If something is bothering or interrupting my personal flow of life I find that the best thing I can do is try to find the ultimate reason behind it, look for the positive lesson.  Sure, I could shrug my shoulders, give in and scream out “what’s the point of this?” or say “it’s not my fault, it’s theirs”, but for me I don’t see any benefit in doing that ever!  It doesn’t solve anything, it doesn’t make you feel any better and it certainly doesn’t change things.  So if you’re going to say “what’s the point of this?” make sure that question is directed to “what’s the point of me giving this any energy?”.

One of the key things on the first show that I believe to be a very significant factor in a lot of people’s lives is “what story are you telling?”.  If the reasons you aren’t succeeding or moving forward are because of a difficulty you’ve experienced in your life ( in your past ) then you need to stop telling that story.  It’s something that has caused you pain but by continuing to use that as your story (your excuse) you are the one holding yourself back from being all that you are meant to be.

When you continue to re-tell your story of the obstacles that have prevented you from having the life that you wanted, you are reinforcing that story and giving it more energy to grow and become an even bigger obstacle.  Close off the old story – “Life was tough before now, some of it was very painful, but now I’m going to take charge and I’m going to change it, it’s going to get better.  It’s going to be the life that I want and that I was meant to live”.

You need to re-write that story to suit you better to who you are now and who you want to become.  A good beginning, that I have used, is to simply change my perspective and attitude, it doesn’t cost a thing.  Maybe at first you may not see the changes and it’s not because they aren’t there but it does take some time to learn how to recognize your newfound awareness but it won’t be long before you are able to fully embrace it and begin to move forward.

Start your new story now, don’t wait, don’t leave it for another day.  If inspiration, motivation or both strike you, then you need to strike back while the iron is hot.  I know you are totally worth it to re-write your new story, one that is more positive and of more benefit to the direction you want to see your life go.   The only way to grasp a new way of life is to let go of the old one.
