We All Matter

Wanting to be Heard

We’re all just looking to be heard, to be validated, to know that we matter.

Feeling alone in a world full of people seems almost ridiculous when thinking about it, but if you don’t feel like you are being heard or connecting with others than feeling alone and out of place is a likely emotion.

In reference to some of my previous blogs, this is also relatable to “The Voice of Reason”.  So many children of all ages are making decisions ( good or bad ) based on their feelings of self-worth.  I don’t believe that this is isolated to one age group but affects us all individually at one time or another and when making decisions from a place of low self-worth, low self-esteem and low confidence then those decisions tend to be bad ones or at least ones you wish you hadn’t made.

I only use our children as an example because who we become as adults has formulated from early childhood and has been enhanced by the environment with which we were raised.  There are many people I’ve come across that display a lack of self-worth and confidence.

NO ONE should have to feel that way.

It takes only a few moments of your time to sit back and give your full attention to someone and that shouldn’t be too much to ask, it should be an ingrained behaviour.

If something matters enough for someone to try to reach out, than it matters, and it should matter to you.  If they are reaching out to you, you should feel honored that they’ve chosen you to listen and honor them by giving your undivided attention.

This topic reminds me of a story I read in one of those “pass it on, feel good” emails.  I’ve condensed it to fit here but this is the jist of it.  The story was of a teen that felt so unheard, unvalidated and unseen, as he was on his way home from school some of the other kids at his school decided to bother him and knock all of his books out of his hands.

One boy, that also went to his school, saw this and came over to help him pick up his books, befriended him and the two eventually became great friends.  It caused this boy’s life to take quite a different turn then he had been living.

Upon graduation this boy, who had become Valedictorian, gave his speech and told the story of his best friend and how this best friend literally changed the course of his life, for the day that those other boys dumped his books all over was the day he had intended to take his own life.  This best friend of his offered him friendship at a time when he was feeling his lowest.

It only takes one moment to let someone know they matter, please always take that moment.

Everyone deserves to be heard, to be validated, to know that they matter!

Making the Connection

Finding the Path

We aren’t always open in the way we need to be to receive the signs or guidance we are seeking and of course that is because we can’t be in the same frame of mind all the time.  Our moods are tied to our emotional state and depending on what emotional state you are in it can determine whether or not you are open and able to make the connection.

I had a book that I bought quite a while before I finally read the whole thing.  I had started it but for some reason just couldn’t absorb any of it, after re-reading the first chapter three times I’d realized it just wasn’t the right time for me to read it.

After at least a year had passed I was looking for something to read, something that I could connect with and that would bring me the solace and understanding I was seeking at that time.  I picked this same book up again and read it cover to cover in a very short time and it contained all the answers to the questions that were currently on my mind.  What I could determine from this after was that the time before when I wanted to read it but couldn’t even remotely absorb it, I hadn’t been at the point of needing the information contained in this book.

We all have different phases in our lives when information given to us is received because it resonates with where we are at that moment.  If we aren’t on that conscious level then the signs or guidance can’t get in because we aren’t in alignment with them.  When I had picked up that book the second time it completely fit in with what I needed, which is why when I first tried to read it that it didn’t resonate because I hadn’t yet reached that point.

Not everyone is at the same point in their life at the same time, all the time.  So if you are wanting to share something that you find insightful with someone else it doesn’t mean they aren’t interested or don’t understand, it just means they either aren’t or haven’t reached a level in their life where what you find in alignment with your soul to be in alignment with theirs.

I believe in the divinity of this universe and when we are most in need of something that will calm or energize our spirit it is usually presented at the time when we are most open to acknowledging and receiving it.  If you’re not receiving a sign or guidance that you are asking for then it doesn’t mean that the universe isn’t listening, it means that you’re limiting yourself by looking in only one direction.

Signs don’t always come in the form we expect them to and sometimes in order to receive them you need to expand your awareness.  When a door closes, don’t just stare at it and believe that that’s it for you, turn around and keep looking for a window.  There is always a path to higher consciousness, it’s completely your choice on whether you want to step onto it.  Knowing how much control and power we actually have within our thoughts and imagination while on it, you can’t keep me off of it.  For me it’s the path to a much healthier and contented life, a life that I don’t want to live without.

Envisioning Your Future

Seeing is Believing, Believing is Seeing

For myself, the beginning of this process was to first determine what it was that I really wanted out of my life.  This wasn’t something I was able to do instantaneously, it definitely took some serious reflection on where I’ve been, where I wanted to go, how I wanted to get there and who I wanted there with me.  In making that determination I had to remain true to my inner desires without compromising my inner self.  The course that I wanted to chart felt like a very natural progression and I knew I could easily fit into it without having to alter myself in any way.

When trying to figure out your ultimate calling these factors are very important, it should be a natural fit with who you already are.

Once I had it all figured out, it then transitioned so easily and so naturally that I wondered why I hadn’t discovered this path before.  I knew that I wasn’t living up to my true potential, I knew that I didn’t feel fulfilled.  There was always something that I felt I was supposed to be doing but couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

What I had been doing that prevented this natural transition, was resisting, although I didn’t know it until I had stopped.  The foundation of the resistance that I was creating was due to my indecision about what I wanted to envision for my future.  I couldn’t begin to believe if I didn’t know what it was that I wanted to see.

Once you allow yourself to imagine the life you want, it becomes that much easier to create it.  I wrote out my own little “To Do” list with the steps in an order that would best help me to reach my ultimate goal.  Making this list was the easiest part of preparing for my future all I had to do was follow the steps I had planned out, if one didn’t work out as expected, I would re-organize my steps.

Visualization isn’t easy for everyone if you are having a tough time with it, then create a vision board and make sure you have it in a place where you will see it every day.  After a while you will be able to see your vision board in your mind without being in front of it, you can make mental alterations if you want to.  At that point you are now Visualizing, and doing it on your own.

There’s a reason why we go through the events we do and it is because they are the necessary steps that shape us into the people we need to be so we have all the tools we need for the future we are destined for.  Each event is designed to teach us something and the victory is when you’ve identified the lesson and used it to enhance your own personal growth.

I have used the Law of Attraction for many years and I can honestly say that everything I’ve ever really wanted and put my conscious and subconscious mind into I’ve achieved.  Anytime that something hasn’t worked for me wasn’t because the Law of Attraction wasn’t working it’s because I was blocking it in some way.

Keep your mind and heart open, see what you want and believe in it.  The more you believe in it, the more you will see it.

Living Your Authentic Life

Be True to Yourself

The best way to be true to yourself is to live your life authentically.  Be defined only by what you say and what you do.  Everyone has an opinion and ideas but when either of those don’t align with how you feel then you don’t need to accept it, it’s just one of the many differences that makes each of us individuals.

When you are living your authentic life you are not likely to have any regrets later because you are being true to your inner spirit, it’s that inner spirit that holds all your wishes, desires and dreams.  If you allow those whispers into your consciousness then you will be helping yourself to get onto the path you were meant to be on.  Everything we dream of and envision, as individuals, of being the ultimate life is tied to our authentic selves.  It’s only when you listen and follow those whispers  that you will find contentment, peace and balance.

What is perceived as the ultimate life for one person won’t always be the ultimate life for everyone.  In order to maintain living your authentic life you can’t allow anyone else’s ideas or opinions to alter or impede being true to yourself.  Don’t think of anything as being unattainable or impossible to reach.  You can reach and achieve whatever you want out of your life, there’s no such thing as impossible.

Most of the restrictions we place on ourselves are based out of fear:

–          Fear of what others may think

–          Fear of not being deserving

–          Fear of failing

If you can identify with any of these fears then what restricts you comes from within and will require reflection and honesty about what is really preventing you from living your authentic life.

 Awareness is power!

Once you are able to identify the source of your fears you then have the opportunity to overcome them so you can begin to live your own charmed life.

Believing In Yourself

You Can Get There From Here

We all have to make compromises in life and that also includes doing what we have to do to get to where we want to be.  We all have to start somewhere and it’s usually at the bottom because how else can you be appreciative and grateful for what you’ve accomplished if you go straight to the finish line?  It is in the middle of those compromises when we are not yet serving our life’s purpose that becomes the necessary steps to get us there.

Of course, don’t think I haven’t wished for it at times, but if I went straight to victory I wouldn’t have had the challenges along the way to mold me into the person I need to be.  There have been many difficult challenges I can think of that I would’ve rather done without because they hurt too much and were unpleasant but they helped to create who I am today and knowing that now I don’t think I would change them.  It’s during difficulty that we find out our true strength of character, integrity and capabilities.

One of my biggest assets that continues to help me on the road to my life’s purpose is the Law of Attraction (LOA).  Visualization is something I’ve always been good at and is one of the keys to being able to attract what you want in life.   Seeing is believing and believing is seeing.  This is something you can train yourself to do, similar to learning how to do exercises properly to enhance your overall health.  Your mind can learn how to visualize, feel the emotions of those visualizations and that can create the outcome you desire.  Part of this process is that you need to follow your life in the path as if you are on the road to attaining these desires.  You can’t just imagine it, do nothing, and expect it to turn out as you want.   You have to take responsibility for the part you need to play, for example you can’t visualize a healthy and fit body and then stuff it with cookies and ice cream.  Same as you wouldn’t expect your car to run great if instead of gas you put in water.  You have to be in alignment with achieving what you visualize.  Don’t be hard on yourself to achieve and attain results immediately,  I still learn new things to incorporate into my process every day.

One of the biggest points that I’ve always felt is important is not just imagining or saying the words but feeling it within, really believing within yourself that what you desire is yours.  You can’t have your subconscious doubting it, every part of your being needs to firmly believe it without any doubt.

I’m sure you’ve noticed others that seem to be living a charmed life and it’s not just because they have had all the breaks or because they have horseshoes somewhere you can’t find them.  It’s because they are living in the positive, they are attracting all that they desire and deserve because ultimately they just believe

One thing to note is that you will attract whatever emotion you are feeding.  Please be very conscious to work hard to NOT feed the negative, you WILL get more of it, that is a guarantee.

Feed the positive, don’t you think you deserve it?

Finding Your Power

Taking Back Control of Your Life

I believe that half of our issues with feeling like we have lost control of our own direction in life lies within taking charge of the course we are on.  It’s a disabling feeling  and it can cause you to lose hope and faith and of course the more you feel that you’ve lost control the more it spirals, it’s a nasty cycle.  I’ve found that the only way to overcome this is to meet it head on and take back my power.  Change that frequency in your brain that is inhibiting you from happiness, it’s as simple as flipping a light switch, and it’s the necessary first step.  I have always been a huge fan of the “To Do” list because it helps me to stay focused and goal oriented.  Whether it is a situation or relationship issue (these two are usually interconnected) , I believe the “To Do” list will be helpful.  It is likely that if you are in the moment of feeling like you’ve lost your power then you already are aware of what area of your life is lacking.

So based on the fact that you are already aware of this these are the steps I use and apply on my list.  My example is based on my goals in life and how I am going to create the process to achieve them.

1)      Write down the goals you want to achieve

2)      Figure out the steps needed to achieve them, similar to a flow chart

3)      Put them in a realistic order suitable to your desires

4)      Take the first steps to enact these goals

5)      Maintain focus and determination, stay strong

It will take a lot of hard work to achieve your goals, but;

Anything worth having is worth working for

–          Don’t doubt yourself

–          Do whatever you need to do to keep yourself motivated and determined

–          If need be, ask a friend to be an ally to help keep you focused

I would suggest to start with the goal that you think is the most attainable first because when you achieve it, the feeling of accomplishment and pride will empower you to move farther ahead and give you that extra boost needed to maintain your focus and desires.

It’s not surprising to me that I’m such a huge fan of the “To Do” list especially since I love writing and also use it as a tool for self-therapy in every area of my life.  In addition to that, writing things down and having that visual cue is a prominent point of the Law of Attraction.  I came across one of my journals a while ago and had some goals written in there that I had long ago achieved and had forgotten about.  It was a great reminder of how far I’ve come and how strong my own personal power is to complete what I set out to achieve.  Another helpful tool is to start a Vision Board and have pictures where you want to get to, alternatively you could create(draw up) a road map with points along the way that mark the mileposts (goals) of where you want to get to.  Either of these are helpful tools because when you see something every day it becomes ingrained in your mind and as in the Law of Attraction, our thoughts are our power, and we have the power to improve every area of our life.

Emotional or Physical?

Healthy Living

Our own personal health is dependent on how we are feeling both physically and emotionally.  We always pay attention to our physical health but sometimes neglect ourselves emotionally and our emotions can directly affect our physical health.  You can go to the doctor when you don’t feel right but if it’s something emotionally based that is affecting your overall health the doctor won’t be able to find what is wrong.  Our emotions are connected to everything we do whether it’s positive or negative.

–          When we are feeling happy it is reflected in our faces, our speech, our aura and we usually feel warm and lightweight inside.

–          When we are feeling unhappy it is also reflected in the same areas but we don’t feel warm inside, depending on the source of the unhappiness and our own unique bodies that feeling inside can range anywhere from stress to depression.

Awareness of your overall health and state of mind is the key to battling any emotional setback that may be trying to inhabit your body.

I think we all know when something is wrong or doesn’t feel right.  Whether you go to the doctor to treat something that is physical or you identify the emotional predator trying to wreak havoc, still, the key is awareness.

I’ve actually had the experience of having something emotional (stress) affect my life in a physical (medical) way.  I can tell you the doctors were completely stumped, as was I.  It was only when I unknowingly made a few environment changes that the source of my emotional ailment was cured, of course this led to the physical ailment completely disappearing.

You can’t even imagine how surprised I was, as well as my doctor, it was only then that I fully realized how much our emotional health contributes to our physical health.

Physical and Emotional well-being should be a very important part of our lives and something that we give much attention to because when we are affected we also affect outwardly to everyone around us.

It was something I had never given thought to in the past but something I pay very close attention to now.

Look for the Positive

We can’t stop things from changing

Everything happens for a reason, and of course that’s not always helpful when the things that happen don’t feel so good emotionally but what can make that emotion worse is not allowing yourself to find the positives.  I know!  I don’t always see them at the beginning either, in fact sometimes I’m constantly questioning and by doing that I prevent myself from finding the peace and balance that lies in the “in between”.

Luckily for me, anything that isn’t positive feels foreign to me, like a sickness, which is something I just can’t put up with.  My stubbornness to have to experience anything like that for too long definitely outweighs my constant questioning and denial so I always find my positive answers and if I’m lucky it doesn’t take me too long to do that.  First things first though, I think everyone notices when something doesn’t feel right within and I think our gut instinct always knows what it is but sometimes our egos tend to think they know better and brush off our initial instincts.  The best route is to try to change that process as soon as you notice those subtle differences.  At first it may take some time to raise that awareness but after a while it will become second nature and next thing you know you are fighting off those awful emotions and finding the good in the situations.

It’s our emotions that will always take us to different areas of our lives and whether or not we want those emotions sometimes doesn’t matter.  You can’t change the way you feel so maybe you should try to change the way you are seeing something.

There’s no point in hanging on to the negative side of situations and I know that it can be very difficult to find the positive in some of them but it’s always there, and what good does it do to not find it?  You’re not going to feel better in fact you’ll feel worse.

I know I would much rather choose happy!

There are so many positive things that we can look forward to and be inspired by in this world.  Sure there are also negative things too but I would rather feed the positive and spread that.  The more we diffuse and push aside the negative the weaker it will get and the less chance it will have of continuing to grow.  It’s what we put out energy into that expands and I would much prefer that what expands for everyone are the positive moments.

It only takes one kind moment to change the course of someone’s day for the better.  If we were all striving to be that person imagine how different our days would be.

It’s All Energy

Recognizing the energy in our Lives

Have you ever noticed how certain people can affect you?  It’s that moment when you realize how someone else’s energetic field is affecting your own, whether it’s a good or bad feeling, you’re still aware of its presence.

We are all energetic beings and like all forms of energy not all of them blend together.  When you’ve noticed that someone has “rubbed you the wrong way” or the opposite that “things just clicked” both of these are energetic effects.  We are all unique individuals and of course we are not all going to blend together as one, we need the different energies to provide balance.  Learning how to work with maintaining your own sense of balance is the key.

Similarly the LOA (Law of Attraction) is also a form of energy, it’s a state of being that is sustained by a certain energy.  When you are operating within that energy you will likely equate it to “the day just keeps getting better”.  It’s because that particular vibrational energy is in perfect alignment with your inner spirit, like finding your way home.  It’s that state of being that is the equivalent of the perfect vibrational energy.  I call it the perfect vibrational energy because, well let’s face it, if you’re at a point where you’re thinking that the day keeps getting better then you are having a pretty fantastic day and of course what wouldn’t be better than having a day, week or month full of fantastic days?

Unfortunately there are times when we aren’t feeling as uplifted as we’d like to and those fantastic days can seem so far away, sometimes so far away that it can feel like you won’t see one again.  It’s during these times that we are operating way outside of the “perfect vibrational energy” and if you’re like me it feels almost like having the flu.

When you’re down like this it leaves you wide open for negativity to find its way in.  Technically your spiritual immune system is down and once the negativity gets in it can find other avenues within to keep you occupied.  Negative thoughts that are not distinguished can grow and escalate to cause you much sorrow and pain and make you believe that the positive of hope and faith is not there or worse, lost!  It’s these times when you may need to remind yourself to believe.

It will require a lot more of your energy to fight your way through to find the light but when you get there it’s totally worth it.  There’s nothing as gratifying as the positive side of life, the “perfect vibrational energy”, it feeds your inner spirit with hope, love and faith.

As terrible as the negative energy is, we need it to be able to identify, appreciate and embrace the positive.  If they weren’t such polar opposites how else would we be able to recognize the difference?

Look for the good vibrations and pass on the positive!

Embracing a Positive Lifestyle

Letting Go

To begin living a positive lifestyle we first need to let go of an old way of thinking or behavior that no longer serves us.  It’s this old way that will block us from fully being able to welcome and accept a new and better way of life that will ultimately bring much happiness. In order to allow the happiness we need to first let go of any negativity that is holding us back.  If you really think about it what has harbouring negative thinking brought you?

–        If you are upset with another person, has the negativity exacted the revenge you were hoping for?

–        Has it had any impact on them whatsoever?

At the very most this other person may be aware you are upset but that is likely all it’s done for the situation.  If the other person is unaffected (and most likely they are) then what good has it done for you to carry on with this line of thinking?  The only person you are exacting any negative impact on is yourself.  You are most likely feeling the ill effects within you by way of sickness (emotional or physical), either one is pointless.

Are you really the one you want to affect with this negativity?  Chances are you might not be aware that you are actually harming only you.  So why hold onto it?

Even though revenge itself is another pointless and demeaning behavior, at the very least if you want to think of it this way, wouldn’t the best revenge be for you to be happy?

If another person has affected your life negatively then by continuing to hold on to the negative feelings you are allowing that person to be in control of your own personal happiness.  Why give anyone but yourself the power over your happiness?

The best possible solution is to let it go and by whatever means necessary.  There are many different ways to do this but the first step is really and truly wanting to let it go and to be willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.  Your determination in this process will be one of your biggest assets.  The other will be your will power to maintain that determination.

Letting go can be an almost impossible task when you’re not fully ready.  You need to be brutally honest with yourself if you are going to succeed.

I believe that we all have the power within ourselves to overcome and accomplish anything we fully commit to.
